I tried to read "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn" and I just couldn't get through it. I also disliked "Fahrenheight 451" or whatever that book is called.

The worst book I have read recently was Dan Brown's "The DeVence Code" From every thing i heard it was supposed to be a great book. It was a Mystery that wasn't very well written. I wouldn't recommend it to any one.

READING SHOULD BE FUN - books, reading.
Funny...I haven't thought about that novel in years. I absolutely HATED "Fahrenheight 451". It was the worst book. Another one I had a hard time getting through was "The Hobbit". I just didn't like it at all. (I know alot of you will dislike me for that comment. Sorry.) The third book that was a nightmare to me was "Animal Farm". I got all the symbolism, but the book to me just wasn't interesting.

I agree about the Hobbit and animal farm bit, actually! The Hobbit was just plain disappointing. I mean, you follow the hero through more than half the book as he quests to slay the dragon!! ...and then some other person goes and does it. And there's a whopping one paragraph about it. It was annoying. -_- But wow, really? So many people dislike Farenheight 451? This is making me want to re-read it. I read it when I was pretty young.

House of the Seven Gables by Nathaniel Hawthorne. It ought to be banned for insipidness. Blechhhh. Uggghhhh. What a waste of time. Do not read it. And if you are assigned to read it in school, get the Cliff Notes. (I'm an English Major and I hated this book)

Please try "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn" again. It was one of my very favorite books growing up, and both of my children loved it as much as I did. Once you get into the story I know you'll like it. It really is a great book.

Oh, I loved Farenheit 451! But I'm a Ray Bradbury fan. The worst book I've ever read... there were two. Jude the Obscure (as my AP English teacher put it: "It's a typical story. Boy meets girl. Girl hits boy with a piece of pig"). And Things fall apart by chinwae achebe (I can't spell that name). Not surprisingly, they were both for school.
