I really want to have my own website and am taking steps towards that goal. I do know a little about HTML but have no knowledge of actually creating a webpage and publishing it on the Internet. I have learned that you need to register a domain name, which is the actual address of your website and get hosting services so that it is available for people to see. I have recently come across a system which covers these things and a lot more. It's called Site Built It! You can visit the site here: http://www.sitesell.com/softsellmktg.html/ They teach you how you should construct your website and how to promote it with a process they say is "a proven way to build any business online." You can see for yourself here: http://ctpm.sitesell.com/softsellmktg.html/ I'm sure there are at least a few people who've made their own website and possibly some with SBI! I would like to hear from you. Please share your knowledge & experience on making your own webpage and/or SBI! Thank you!

I have made my own webpage but because i don't understand all the different programs and I am not very computer savvy I did mine through WORD which I was told at the time I couldn't do, but i did and it is going well, I was offered a webpage from a friend who is a designer for free but i wanted to do one from the heart as my site is a tribute page...I love doing my own page.

I can understand how something that means a lot and is so personal would make creating the tribute page for it enjoyable. However, I was thinking more along the line of an e-commerce site or some other form of online business. Having said that, you created your website with Word? :O That's pretty amazing that Word can actual do that! And if you don't mind me asking, where do you get your website hosted? Thanks for responding! :D

I have many sites. I love creating them but I don't always enjoy maintaining them. I use regular html, cascading style sheets, some php, and rely heavily on ssi. Some of my domains are canadian and have to be registered through Cira- the rest are through Tucows or goDaddy. I used to get a lot of my information (scripts and how to's) from bignosebird.com -- but there are so many information sites out there that have great information. Good luck with your website. Post updates and let us know how you're making out.

A fellow Canadian! Well, not at all a fellow but you know what I mean... Do you use any special editing tools like Dreamweaver? And where do you get your hosting? I saw your "Bridal Basics" site and that is something to which I aspire. I would love to see what your other site are like if possible. I will definitely let everyone here know how I make out as I go and actually create a website. Thanks for responding and imparting some of your wisdom!

Hello there, I use Transmit (an FTP program) and edit directly through it. I also have a site called Buy Domestic dot net and a whole ton of others. So many of them, that I actually have to keep notebooks to remember the information.... As for my hosting plan, I'm sorry to say that I do not recommend it and am hoping to find better servers in the near future.

I would like to make my page soon too. I've taken bits and pieces of classes on programs like Dreamweaver and Flash but I need to refresh my memory again. Just haven't had the time yet. But it's a goal. Thanks for introducing those sites, it should come useful to me.
