I'm not sure. It's hard to predict what technology will be like in that length of time, but desktops are still a lot more powerful than a laptop that cost the same. Plus, as monitors get bigger, I don't think anyone will really want to be lugging around a laptop with a 20"+ monitor. Not really portable at the larger sizes. You'd probably need some sort of decent holographic technology to counter that.

yes my friend i agree that the screen size of desktop computers are always a very strong point. although i like the fact that i can work on my laptop lying on my bed, but the screen size is surely a problem when i work on applications like photoshop, dreamweaver, maya etc. and that time i think that desktop computers are a lot easier.

Thinking about it, you could have a laptop and use it with a larger monitor when needed. Not quite sure how this is done, maybe with a USB port, but I have seen it.

Surely with in a short period(6 or 7 yr) they become obsolete in the world. We all know the Pager. What about that now? Some of the younger generation even don't know about that. But raises and set very recently. Desktops are also approaching their end but it will take some time , will not like pager.

he he he yes man nice example. i still remember how people use to get fascinated when they saw a page with some one. but with the mobiles coming out, pagers were almost like walkmans - you don't use them any more. mobiles were everywhere.

i dont think so. i have a desktop and i have a laptop as well. i only use the laptop at work and when i am at home i use the desktop. laptop is only for personal use. but if the other members of the family will use it is more likely to have a desktop than just a laptop. my three year old son is starting to be inquisitive with the pc and the wonders of it. but i dont like him to touch my laptop. the desktop is a good pc for him to start

I don't really think so unless a more advance technology is being released, maybe something like a 3D projection thingy. Then again, you still need the CPU & all unless they've shrunk the size of the microelectronics even more?

I do not think they will become obsolete, but I do see a trend of them becoming smaller and smaller. I just recently bought a new desktop and already had a laptop. The appeal for me was the size of the new destop. It has basically all the bells and whistlers as a full blown desktop just smaller. This was appealing to me because I run an internet radio show and it takes less space up on my broadcast table. I I think they will be around just way smaller.

Well I really think about that but after around 10 years time, since There are lots of good desktop computers, but I prefer a laptop since I can use it when I am cosy in my bed.:)
