How to know what your boss thinking ?

Yesterday afernoon,our office has a meeting and at the end of the meeting ,our manager said :"the most important thing of a clerk is to know what your boss or manager thinking ,if not ,no matter what you did ,it has no use at all ." I know this somehow is right ,but I really can't agree with it . I don't know why I can't .I want to know if you really have no ability to do anything ,but you know how and what your boss think ,could you get the promotion from your boss ?
Yes ,I know this is the society ,the reality .Should I do things like that ?

actually if you know what your boss is thinking, you already have the ability to be a boss one day. if this is the case, you are actually qualified for a higher position than a clerk for now.
to know what a boss thinks, you need to stand on his side & see things from his point of view. try to understand your boss from his daily activities. one day you will know what your boss is thinking & that is the time you might get a promotion.

Yes,I know what you said is right ,but the question is that I can't agree with my manager or my boss ,as I think that is not right ,the boss insists on and me too .Maybe I have used a wrong way ,a wrong attitude .Yeah ,you never know .
Of course ,if once the boss told us the importance of knowing what he/she thinking ,it good for us .The boss also wants we all be promoted.

I think what they are thinking is how to make more money through their stuffs as our boss is just like that.he just want us to work harder and harder but don't care how you live a daily life,they are greedy and careless,all they care about is how much they could make through the employees

Happy day dear friend ,I think you are right .What the boss thinking is how to make more profit with little cost and how to make the cost down. Our company is in the countryside where there is far away the city ,and all the staffs have to live in the company and eat in the canteen,but the food the canteen made are really bad ,everytime and everyday when I get it ,I feel uncomfortable and have no no appetite to eat it .But you know ,I have no choice .I have to do it .I find myself hungry even after I ate.What our boss did with that ?Give us some poll ,but no change .I hate it .

I don't think that anyone can know exactly what their boss is thinking unless the boss has verbalized it. I think that maybe the meaning is that you should know your employer well enough to know how to behave at work and what your responsibilities are at all times.
