American Flag on Your Butt...

I have always wondered why Americans wear their flag? You can see it everywhere, printed undies with a flag, towels, cups and more and more... I understand the gift part where this flag is used to make souvenirs but why would you print it on undies & boxer shorts? Why would anyone think that a fat man walking with American flag printed boxer looks anything close to ethical or nice? I can't imagine Latvian people would wear their flag on their butts. Maybe it's because we have fought about our country for too long and too hard. Now when it's ours we have a different way of respect to it than other nations.

I find that a lot of nations have a misplaced sense of nationalism. Everything and anything is treated with reverence. Why should we treat everything as a holy cow? If the national flag is displayed,in what ever place it may be,whether as a bra or as an underwear, how does it demean the flag? Is the human body so ugly and worthless that if the flag comes in contact with any part of it, it will become impure? if i make the flag a part of my body, I am giving it respect. The human form is the most noble. Why should we look at it with disrespect? yes if we trample the flag under our feet, i agree it is a form of giving disrespect.

I can understand wanting to show pride in the country
putting a flag on a coffee mug or something like that is ok
T-shirts are alright too I guess
I draw the line at undergarments though
it seems disrespectful and tasteless to put an American flag on your undies
