LOL misuse

much like smiley misuse, the use of LOL needs to be addressed! LOL means laugh out loud,ergo should really only be used if something is funny! I have had so many messages with LOL in them and I think "what the hell are you laughin at?" Does it bug you? Do you misuse LOL?

I have also thought that LOL means Lots Of Laughs.
My son says the abreviation as a word. That was getting annoying.
But for me, I only use LOL when I am really laughing at something.

I knwo exactly what you mean. Sometimes it makes me wonder if peopel even understand which smile is for which. It also makes me wonder if they have no clue they are laughing or if I lost my sense of humor.

I wouldn't use the term "misuse" for the many times that LOL! is used here, at MyLot! I use it more often than I normally would in a visual conversation, as persons are not privvy to the expression on my face! There are many users here that are challenged with the English language...and I use "LOL" more often to let them know that the remark that I have made is meant to be sarcastic..or hunourous even tho' the text does not communcate such! Have a great one!
