we have two kinds of kettle, the one which you can heat water by putting it on the top of the stove and the other one is electric kettle. i always have the problem about heating water for i always forget. har har har. sometimes i heat water using the electric kettle and when i remember it the water is almost warm for it was finish boiling minutes ago. when i heat water on the kettle for the stove i forget it also and end up having half a cup only of hot water. i think i need to buy the one whistling kettle.

Hi se7enthbird! You should go for the whistling kettle indeed. It would be a good investment because it would save you on electricity, water, and plus you could depend on having a full cup.lol..I would get one.

Well looks like you tend to be a very forgetful person.Yes I think a kettle that whistles will suit you best in this case. But tell me do you tend to forget only when you place water in the stove? What about while doing other chores?Do you always need a bell or a whistle to remind you??

i have both but i use the electric kettle more often for it is automatic shut-down lol or automatic turn off. so it will not be a waste of gas if i forget it. it is much safe for me. if you keep forgeting your heating water then i think you need to buy the one that wistles. it would really conserve you gas and electricity for sure. that would be screaming loud if the water is boiling already.... just dont listen to your ipod when you are heating water lol

I have also that weakness, I forget things so easy, even if I will cook rice! LOL! So, I tried to be attentive this time! we don't have any of those this time, we just use the microwave.....[/i]

lucky you that your microwave is an energy saving appliance. our microwave broke 2 years ago and since that day i can say that the electric bill we are paying goes down. so i can say that microwave is not a saving power appliance for us. but i guess i need to buy the one that whistles. thanks a lot for the response

I have both at my house. The electric kettle is so convenient, that I use it whenever I feel like to drink. Even for guests, it is fast enough to get boiled water ready for tea or coffee. The only think I learned from previous lessons is to be very careful to turn it off when there is no water. Some electric kettles will turn off when dry by itself, but most older models do not. A couple of my electric kettles were fuse burnt out for the reason, and usually difficult to repair for its integral package.

lucky me that the electric kettle i have is automatic off. when it boils it will shut off. so i dont have any problem regarding over heat or drying up. but my problem is i forget about it and when i remember i will have to reheat again. so i am wasting electricity. thanks a lot for the response

I used to have one of those electric kettles for heating tea water. Then one day when it broke, I started to use the stove kettle. It was a while before I could get a new one, and by the time my next electric bill came in, and I saw how much lower it was, I never bought myself a new one. I drink a lot of teas and hot stuff, so it seemed like I was always having the thing plugged in and going lol. I think they must use a lot of electricity to heat that water! I have one of those whistling kettles, I can hear it all the way at the other end of the house.

It sounds like you should invest in a kettle that turns itself of as soon as it reaches boiling point. I wouldn't know what to do without mine, I hate standing around waiting for it to boil.

We currently don't have an electric kettle because it broke! Good thing we have a stove top kettle. :) It's not that nice to use because it takes longer for the water to boil. Plus it's really clunky, so I don't want to have to keep taking it in and out of the cupboard. Therefore it has to stay on the stove top and takes up lots of space. That being said, the design is very attractive, and I get to steep tea in it. :)

I recieved a coffee kettle from my mom and it is electric. I have to say that it is one of the worst that I have ever recieved because the thing doesn't have an off switch. You literally have to unplug it while it is still running which is never good as I am sure you know. I have decided that before I get a realloy good shock, it might be time to buy a new one. I would like to get one that you put on the stove because the noise would prevent me from forgetting that I have bolied my water. I have a lot of stuff to do at any given time and sometimes I will put the water boiling only to forget about it. One of the good things about the kettle that I have, is that it has an automatic turn off if the kettle runs out of water. I think that it is a good thing since I can't turn it off. LOL.

We have an electric kettle here, but most of the time if I want tea or coffee I just fill a cup with water and then nuke it in the microwave.

I put a cup of water in the microwave if I just want one cup of instant coffee. I have an electric whistling kettle and a stove top whistling kettle. I use the stove top one as it is more convenient, I seem to need a new one no matter what it is after a few years.

The most i use is th electric kettle, since it boils water faster and it is more efficient. The drawback is that it consumes electricity power, and in my country electriciy bills are very high to pay.
