New Virus?

United States

Just a little background on me, I own a computer repair shop and I see alot of stuff, but nothing like this. I am working on a computer with a virus and as I am running a scan with Nod32, it detects every Windows file as infected and every executable and .scr file as infected. I am thinkning that the only option is to reformat. Has anyone else seen this one?

Hi, I don't think that it is a virus. It might be a false alarm.

It's the Win32/Virut Virus. I ended up needing to do a clean install after I high level formatted the drive. It ended up getting worse the more I messed with it. Guess it didn't like me poking around trying to remove it.

Did you try booting in safe mode and scanning? When my system was infected with a virus that wouldn't go, I installed Windows on one of my other drives. (E: drive) Then I rebooted the machine from E:, installed anti-virus on E: and scanned C: This fixed the problem.

Yes, the virus is active in safe mode. It got to the point where I had to put the hard drive in another pc just to scan it.

I have come cross the same condition. It was really frustrating. But, it can be worked out easily with Kaspersky. scan all your drives with the antivirus and delete all the infected files. Then, it's recommended to do a whole new set up for your system.

I does part time on computer repais as well.. When I see this.is better to backup the customer file with live linux cd and after that do a completer reformat.. That the best option and will save time ,rather you spend a few day to troubleshoot. Hope this help.
