I'm giving up the internet for Lent.

So, tomorrow is Ash Wednesday, a day of repentance that marks the beginning of lent. Are any of you attending an Ash Wednesday service tomorrow? Are you giving anything up for lent? I've decided to give up the internet. I feel like I waste so much time on here that I could be devoting toward more productive things like time with God, helping others, and schoolwork. I am also going to try my best to give up sweets and chocolate. Anyway, I won't be around myLot for the next few weeks, but I will be checking back here tonight so feel free to respond!

I haven't thought about it yet. I do know that it is Ash Wednesday tomorrow. The parish priest reminded us about it on Sunday's sermon. I would definitely look into things that I could offer to the Lord.

I always have a hard time remembering to give something up... usually by the time I remember, lent has already started, LOL! Hope your lent goes well.

Yours too. I was thinking of giving up dining out with friends this lent. That way, all of us could do this together.

I haven't thought about it either. I find it funny when people have to have a reason or an excuse to give things up. If they are bad things or one is doing to much of them they should just give them up. It shouldn't take a holiday or new year for people to stop doing things, especially things that they consider not worthwhile.

The reason why we give things up is because Jesus fasted for 40 days in the desert. It's always been my goal to do a 40 day fast for lent, but honestly I don't think my body could handle that now! So really, the point is to give up something that you do on a daily basis, and instead devote that time to God. It doesn't have to be a bad thing. You're right, if it's something that's bad, it would be better to just give it up altogether.

I did not realize that Ash Wednesday is here already. I am a Christian but I observe these days differently. I think it is a good choice to draw closer to God and eliminate what is out of balance in your life. God bless you on a most Holy time. May the sacrifice of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ touch us all in a very special way this year.
