lasagna

hello lasagna is my favorite food but would like to here what ingreadients you put in yours and do you serve it with garlic bread and a salad or by its self

I love making lasagna. I usually put in ground beef, and my sauce and plenty of cheese. Mozzarella and ricotta especially. I like to add some spice to mine so I'd put in some hot peppers with the meat. I have heard of using sausage in lasagna but since I don't eat pork, I'd have to find a beef substitute. I want to try making it with ground lamb meat or a mixture of the beef and lamb. That sounds delicious!

And garlic bread and salad sound great with this meal but it is optional. I'd might suggest a cold green bean and asparagus salad with pesto dressing instead of the normal tossed salad but either will do fine.

And my lasagna is way thicker than the stuff in that picture! At least four or five layer minimum. You might not need any salad or bread when you get to a chunk of my recipe!

I use whole wheat pasta, spicy italian turkey sausage instead of ground beef, a layer of cottage cheese (add 2 eggs and fresh basil and mix) and smother the entire thing in mozzarella in between each layer to hold it together. I also add salsa to the sauce while it's brewing, one can of tomatoe paste, two cans of diced stewed tomatoes and italian seasoning. The fresh basil really kicks it up a notch though! I always bake it for a half hour with foil on top to stop the cheese from burning.

I forgot to say that I make garlic bread using a fresh french loaf, cut in half, mixed butter with fresh pressed garlic and oregano, spread on the loaf and top with cheese. I also make a caesar salad to go with it.

I love lasagne! I haven't made it in a while but I put tons of garlic and grted carrots and zuccini and whatever other vegetables (like spinach) I have that are appropriate. I use a blend of four or five cheese but I don't use meat. I may try it with tofu soon though.

Oh yeah, garlic bread is great with it and a whole lot of other things too!
