Has anyone bragged you about something but has no idea...

...that what he/she is bragging about is less impressive than what you have? Example let's say a car, she brags you about her Lancer but she didn't know that you own a Ferrari.

I was taking some classes with a group of people and one day the teacher gave us all an IQ test. We were told before the test that the highest score possible was 127. After the test we were all shown our individual scores. While we were waiting in line at the cafeteria this one women started asking each of us what we scored on the test. When one of the others would tell her what score she had achieved this woman would say that her score was higher. This was normal behavior for her. No matter how much money you had, she had more. Or how much pain you were in, she hurt worse. Well, after she had asked most of the others their score, and before she could ask me, I asked her what her score was. Of course she wouldn't tell me but she did say she would after I told her mine. So I told her my score was 159. And of course she told me her score was higher than that. She told us that her score was 172. Everyone in the line looked shocked as I asked her with a straight face, how can that be when the highest score anyone could have made was 127. You could have heard a pin drop for a minute, then all the others, who had been pushed way past annoyance at her psychological need to always be or have more than anyone else, clapped their hands and patted me on the back for finally catching her in an outright lie that she couldn't wiggle out of.

Yes, I have some encounters with this kind of people. But I just laugh to myself considering that I always understand that there are people who are like that. My recent encounter was when a guy was showing of his mobile phone. It was actually made in China and he was bragging about its capabilities and other features. He became silent later on upon seeing my Samsuing Omnia.

This disc reminds me of Jimmy/Jose, Vic and Joey in Eat Bulaga's portion "ang Joke mo" where they brag about their grandfathers, each trying to outdo the ability of the previously mentioned grandfather. I used to brag in an exaggerated manner and the details all puffed up so I'd seem like the richest or most famous being on earth. That was way back childhood days when friends gathered round me while I manipulated the conversation, my loose tooth swinging as I talked. LOL But now, I know my exact status in life so no reason to be bragging about having nothing.

yes and I usually just set the record straight just so they don't feel so up high if I like the person though I will also say that it's still a good achievement this way they don't feel so unworthy either well most ppl that brag to me don't know me so I'll just set the record straight whatever they feel is not my concern

Let him/ her brag whether you're impressed or not. It's her/ his arrogance, not yours. Or maybe, they just feel happy about what they have.

Sure that has happened to me. We have the biggest TV that is possible write now and someone was bragging to me about their big TV. The TV she was talking about was much smaller than mine. But she was excited about it so I did not say anything, I let her have her moment. I don't like to brag about the TV. I don't even talk about it, when people come here for the first time they always go Wow! That is a huge TV. OK, now I sound like I am bragging. Sorry.

Hahahaha! YES! I've heard a lot of people talking about their wonderful writing skills but I always notice so many spelling errors, punctuation errors, grammatical errors, etc. in their writing. I majored in English in college. I was an English honors student in high school. I was a proofreader and copy editor for over 20 years. I know my stuff regarding writing and English grammar, spelling and punctuation. I always have to smile when I see people bragging about being a writer and seeing so many errors in their writings. I generally don't mention it or point out their errors, though. Let them feel good about what they do. It's not my job to point out the fact that they really AREN'T that good. I only do that when it's my job and I'm paid for it.

Yes I have come across people who will go on and on about a subject and they think they know it all. Sometimes I will have more knowledge them them but will say nothing as not to embarrass them.

that would be so embarassing if they found out what they have been bragging was so much less impressive. LOL! i still remember a comic strip quite a long time ago. there was two close friends who have been living together in the same housing area since they were small. later both were married & they live quite far away. however, one of the friend would still visit the other quite frequently. until one day, when she visited her friend, her friend said "it has been a while since the last time you came to my house, you see, now there is a phone in my house." after she finished the sentence, the other friend's cellphone rang... LOL! so embarassing, right?

Hello modstar, I don't really have such a friend who loves to brag about something. But I have a close experience like that. Someone who is not that close to me. Sometimes, when I listen to this kind of people, I just keep quiet and let her brags whatever she wants and at the end of the conversation, I will ask her something like - Would you like to see one? I have it now!
