Parenting a hobby?

I just posted something to a discussion someone had about nuturing children and I found it interesting that parenting had somehow ended up in the interest category "Hobbies I enjoy." Since when is parenting a hobby, lol? This is obviously not a serious thing and probably got entered in that area by mistake but when you think about it maybe it wasn't. It seems today that many parents treat their kids like a hobby rather than a fulltime job. I teach part-time at a charter school and so many of these kids are lacking what they really need at home for a variety of reasons. I just found it interesting that it would end up under hobbies.

Haha. Right. Parenting is hard. But maybe I can call it a hobby myself, because I myself is having fun with it. I mean of course there are times when I just have to yell at something serious (yell not directly to my child, you know, just SCREAM not too loudly, LOL) - but these things are part of it. I would say there is still more fun than pain in parenting... especially if you have a child with a bubbly personality. He always says funny things, makes funny remarks, funny face.. Things like that.

Good for you! It seems as though you have the right attitude for it. Kids can be such a delight at times.

If someone enjoys parenting that much, maybe it can seem like a hobby?
