I have never had much luck House training a pup after it learned the paper part.It seems to me that they just keep going to the place the paper was instead if going were the paper is.

Have you ever tried crate training your doggie? In all my years working with dogs, crate training has been the most effective of all training methods. Some people use crate training and keep the crate area for the dog to use when he/she likes, but you do not have to. You can just use it for house training purposes and then put it away once he/she is trained. Crate traing works for puppies and full grown dogs. Here is a link to the Humane Society and their article on crate training. http://www.hsus.org/pet_care/our_pets_for_life_program/dog_behavior_tip_sheets/crate_training.html Good luck with your puppy!

I know what you mean lol. I do think it is much harder to un-train them from paper training them than it is to do the traditional 'outside' training. My one daughter has dog who was paper trained as a pup, and while she does go outside to do her 'thing', you cannot read the paper by your easy chair and leave part of it sitting on the floor while you're reading the rest lol. It will always end up wet! I'm working on re-training her with crate training, and she's confined to the kitchen area of the house with a baby gate too. She's doing better with that now, but un-training her has been really rough. I think when they are paper trained, the pee goes through to the tile floor and it holds that scent forever...hence they go back to the same place. I've never paper trained a dog before, always did it with regular training and had good luck (once they were trained, they were trained.) Going through this, I know I'd never paper train one on purpose!!
