My family and i have some disagreement on the floor material. My parents would like to lay wood barque because it feels warm and traditional; while i would pave it with tile which looks modern and clean, with better visual effect. which do you prefer ?

I personally like tiles for the ground floor all the way through all the same and wood up stairs with rugs so when you step out of bed you are on a warm flooring. Wood can get dusty but you just need to keep ontop of cleaning.

I guess I would have to ask what room you are referring to. If I were putting new flooring into a bathroom, I would definitely go with tile. As you said, tile does have better visual effects, and you can easily decorate a bathroom to match any tile that you like. When it comes to dining rooms, kitchen, living rooms, I much rather see wood. It is much more warm and has a homey feeling to it. We have wood in our dining room and living room. The upstairs living room is my favorite room in our home. The wood floor is beautiful and it's just a comforting room. But that's just my own opinion....

I prefer a wood floor so it looks attractive below my wooden furniture. It is easy to keep clean. I know many people with carpet but I think it collects dust. I have allergies and tend to sneeze a fair amount. I wouldn't have tile floors because it would make my house feel cold. I don't think my dog's claws would be well suited to tiles.

I prefer wood floor, I just like it simply because it looks so nice and neat and it feels so clean and classic to me too! I like classic things.

I don't want either anymore. Okay in the kitchen and bathroom. There I would rather have tile. But everywhere else I want a carpet back. Right know I have wood, no even real wood, artificial. And it gets so dusty so fast! I know a carpet probably does too, but at least you don't see it. I love to lay on the carpet, can't do that know. I always have cold feet too. I really miss my carpet. Take care.

In cities, we usually have wood floor in house, except the kitchen and toilet. Some people have tile for the ground floor, but in rainy seasons, the tiles will get wet all over. For presence of dust in surrounding environment, carpet is not recommended, as there is no professional cleaners for family users.

Tile, but I think it looks more elegant and is easier to care for than real wood OR laminate wood (like pergo). I also think tile withstands more abuse from kids and pets than wood or wood laminates do, so in turn it will increase the value of your house.
