I would recommend an office position or any job that lets you sit. I'm in the same situation and about ready to leave my job because I can't continue to stand for long periods of time. I took the winter off because I couldn't take the pressure on my back from standing and lifting. I can't sit in one place too long either. My problem is bulging disks and arthritis of the spine. I feel for you knowing how painful a lumbar problem can be and knowing there isn't much that can be done for this problem.

Hi, I agree that you probably shouldn't work at all, but if at all possible you should try and get at least a little exercise. Sitting in front of a Computer for a long time is not very helpful and was the cause of my back problems. Possibly working in a shop where you may be required to stand for most of the time may be the optimum solution for you. This advice is given purely as a personal view and I must point out that I am not a Doctor or have any medical qualifications.

there isn't anything easy on the back, the jobs you would take would be sitting down, but even sitting down puts pressure on the back, I have back problems and I don' work anymore because of it and other things as well.

definitely NOT the kind of jobs that require you sit in front of a computer for very long hours, or if not in front of a computer, then on a desk on your table doing paperwork or stuff...you know... just a suggestion!!

Yes I hear that sitting is bad for the back to. I also cant seem to stand very long without a lot of pain and numbness. So this is why I am asking this question. I need to find something where I can sit for awhile then stand for awhile.

I, literally, cannot stand for more than 2 minutes. So, I have to have a sit-down job. The only money-work I would be able to do is making crafts to sell at yard sales and e-bay.
