i just recently bought a different computer because my old one expired. i bought it from the guy that works on my computers when i need help. i'm not computer savy although i have been using one for years. i bought it from him in dec. twice for the first time ever i have been attacked by spyware. i have had to have him come back & get rid of it. it's getting to be quite expensive. i really like this guy, he's very nice, very smart etc. do u think it's the computer i got from him or is it just a coincidence that it's happening? can i have y'alls opinion?

hello there, if your problem is with the spyware or virus, then its definitely not that guy's fault.......you need to maintain your system properly....a good antivirus and spyware detection tool will be helpful. its better you take tips from that person on how to avoid such problems. have a nice day

i do have an anti-virus that he put on when i bought it from him. he says there is nothing you can do to prevent spyware. i sure don't want it to be his fault. i think he's a nice guy. thanks for your response.

The anti-virus on it might be part of the problem. I've had Norton before, and it worked great. Then the next year, Norton caused most of the problems. Then I tried PCcillin. It worked great for 2 years, then it was the cause of most of the lock ups. Ask him about a good anti-virus. I ask my computer lady for her opinion of what to use, each year. (She's already been using it, so she knows which ones work, and I don't have to find out the hard way all the time)

I don't have any comment about him and your relationship with him. Computers get virus problems from time to time. You need to have an anti-virus program installed to guard your computer. There are different programs, and you can choose one you like.

computer expiration haven't heard of that.. you get bette checked for a brand new PC rather than buying to that IT Guy that your talking about.. he definitely fooling your innocents.. PC can be repaired like if your been hit by a virus or a spyware you download a free software for that could rid of them or it can't be rid by anti virus it can also be format.. so why not buy a new one if the hardware are still okay... smart people are wise.. so because of his smartness he might fooling you

Apart from the odd advice that you can't keep spyware off your computer, there doesn't really seem any reason to suspect this IT guy is a rip-off merchant. Every major virus company also sells spyware protection, and there are quite a few free ones out there, too. But you best protection is to learn a little about your computer and the Internet. It does no-one any credit to say "I don't understand" when there is so much free, easy to understand information available. Get savvy!!

I am not that savy, but it may be that you do not have as many security options on it as you had on your old one. The other thought I have is that spyware and things are getting "smarter" all of the time and may have now learned how to circumvent your security measures.

Always dont keep any document in C drive.Only installed programme will be in the C drive. So, when virus affect in your computer and you are unable to solve the problem, then simply format your C drive.

Hi if your computer is getting spyware again and again its not the fault of your computer its the fault of your antivirus program what i would suggest you is that in case that happens again try to install malwarebytes from http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php run it and then remove all the infection this works

expire? who told you that one? they don't expire someone lied to you, now some of your programs might expire which isn't a big deal. most of them are some you buy like virus scans, or add and spy wear programs. but if that's no biggie. you can get them for free. for virus scan avg is a good one, go to avg.com and look for the free one, and spybot is good, and loft soft is good for addwear but no your computer never expire. someone lied to you for real. the computer guy should show you these programs and teach you how to use them like i do with my clients

hello antiquelady when you bought those computers from that man that you are talking about in your discussion, did those computers have any kind of anti-virus program on them or not? if they did not, then in my opinion of the matter, then it would be very common for anybody's computer that wasn't protected with an anti-virus program would certainly be a good canditate for getting some kind of a computer virus or something worse. so i do not know what else to share my thoughts to you about concerning the computers that you have purchased and have had something happen to them like that. i might be looking around to see where else that i could computer shop at. i hope that you get your computer problems solved soon. take care and have a beautiful afternoon.

Hi jo! I bought a computer from a local guy that build them too. I don't know what kind of anti virus you have but the best I have run across is a free download called AVG. They do have upgrades but for the basics they are great. I have used them a long time and they clean your computer right off the bat. I am trying a protection called Avira right now but it doesn't protect me from spyware like AVG did. I will probably have to redownload AVG before long. It's free and legit. A computer specialist at work turned me onto it.They have upgrades but for personal use you won't need it. Search AVG 8.0 free personal download the site will be grisoft.com. Nomore money out for you jo!

When I got my computer (first) two years ago....I had Norton...and nothing but probs! I have AVG (free), McAfee (free) and Webroot (that runs a daily cleanse, at the time you program) Webroot is 29.95+...and so far, have been quite free of bugs!

I am a novice also but I do think that is is a bit strange. I am not saying that maybe your friend did something to sabotage the computer...only that it is strange. I see that you do have a virus protection but I have read quite a bit that different virus protections do different things and a lot of people have more than one virus protection and also spy ware installed on their computer so that when one happens to miss something the other one will generally pick it up. I know that you like this guy but personally but I had to have the computer looked at again I think I would call someone else because you never know what people will do. At least if you get someone else and it still happens then you will know that your friend is being honest and you'll be able to sleep better knowing this instead of always having a question in your mind. After all, you will be paying your friend to fix it so you might as well pay someone else one time and that way you will be paying for your peace of mind also. Good luck! ;)
