Belittling salesclerks part 2

Earlier on, I started a discussion "have you often felt being belittled by salesclerks" Allow me to share an experience where I tried to get back at a salesclerk for treating me so coldly. Well, one time I entered a record store because I needed to buy a CD album. It's like a container with transparent/translucent pockets where you place the CDs. I was wearing a shirt and pair of shorts, and slippers because I also didn't feel the need to really dress for the place. So I approached this lady who was talking to a fellow saleslady and asked where the CD albums were. She just practically pointed with her snout a glass case which was locked! Definitely, I needed assistance for that which she didn't really provide right away. I felt stupid standing infront of that glasscase without someone to assist me with. I gathered my guts to call her and inform her that it was locked. That's how she flashed me that "you're such a disturbance to my conversation with my fellow saleslady" look. I just kept my poise, if any. :-D Then I started selecting, pointed to one CD album, and she took it out. Then I found there was no price tag! I asked her how much it was. She again gave me that semi-smirking face. I still just kept my poise. She just answered me, "There's no price tag." Period! That's when my horns started growing out of my forehead. SO this is what I did: I kept choosing, pointing from one Cd album to the next, letting her take practically everything in it out for me to see. I let her search each and every CD album's price tag, and I complained at every single bit of defect. When the CD albums have formed a mound on top of the glasscase, I pushed them all far from me and said: "Thanks, I think I'll go see somewhere else." And flashed her my semi-smirking face. I loved her bewildered look! And my how I loved the feeling after that! You think I was really rude at her? I mean, she could have been tired from all the day's work that's why she acted that way. BUt then again, I just totally lost my composure and my manners, so what happened, happened! Thanks for reading. Whew!

Can you at least tell us what store it is so we won't go there anymore? If it was me who was in your shoes I would tell her how great a salesperson she is and I would definitely want to talk to her manager (oozing with sarcasm of course). Managers won't tolerate their subordinates with that kind of behavior. Unless of course they have that attitude as well.. in which case they don't deserve my money at all.

Well, like you, I don't normally dress up whenever I go to the mall to buy stuff. I find it entertaining to see salesclerks underestimating customers by judging them on their appearance.

Unfortunately for me, I already felt so little even when she was pointing at the glasscase with her snout that I didn't have the courage or energy to be play nice with her, or even be sarcastic about it. LOL I think it won't happen again. Coz this time around, I'm gonna dress smart, and I'm gonna be assertive. Yeah!

LOL, suddenly I feel like HULK who transforms whenever I am triggered except that in my case I grow horns. :-D I was trembling after that actually. I wasn't expecting that I have dared to do such.

I think she deserves more than a smirk. She must be fired. The moment she "scolded" you for disturbing her conversation, i think she don't deserved to be a salelady afterall. I think courtesy is the number one word that they should learn. Maybe you should go back. She needs to learn the lesson the hard way. And a lesson for you too, just for your advantage, dress smart.

Well, first, she didn't really "scold" me. Coz that would be an outright display of rudeness. She just pointed at the glass case with her snout. Then she went on with the conversation. That's implied rudeness. :-D However, my dressing in a less smart manner wasn't an excuse for me to be given such treatment. People especially salesclerks should know that they should look beyond physical attributes. But then again, this is sort of a rich man's world so I guess I do have to take your suggestion into consideration.

I guess she was really tired. And her belly was quite big and round so I guess she was pregnant. I didn't have the heart to go on a word-war with her so I just left.

I dont blame you for acting like that. Sometimes people are so obliviouse to how they act towards other people that they need a reminder. I love the kill them with kindness technique :) Its so much fun to be super happy to some1 who is trying to make you miserable, it just makes them more mad, but sometimes you are able to get them to come around
