"You've made your bed...

now lie in it..." Do you ever feel that whoever came up with this saying never made his or her bed at all? Would you rather make a decision, act on it and accept the consequences? Or would you rather not "make your bed" at all? Whenever I start feeling blame-some, this is my mantra. It helps sometimes.

I think there's a very good chance that they didn't make their own bed, sure! But they are wise nonetheless. That's probably how they came up with the saying. They had all this free time on their hands 'cos they never had to make beds! I stand behind everything I say and do and will accept all consequences. That is my responsibility as a mature person! (Yes, I described myself as mature SaintAnne, so don't you go getting all funny on me now! lol) It's human nature to look to offload blame at times, but we grow as people by accepting the outcomes of our actions, no matter how bad they may sometimes be! It's great to see a new post from you too!

Mature... I do not like the process of maturity then. Is it okay to just be a little childish sometimes?

Of course! My inner child lives within quite happily and will do so for an eternity!

Hey brat! (I am speaking to James' inner child here, hehehehehe.) For some reason I do not get notifiers when you start new discussions so I periodically check your profile to see what you're up to. I just did today in fact. I was a little disappointed that I did not find anything there that inspired a response from me. No offense intended of course. How are your eyebrows doing??

All through my life I have made my own bed, I have been still. But I have evolved much since the time I had started. There had been days when I laid on it. I accepted it, I bore the consequences, even when someone else had made the bed for me! Strangely, lying like a cadaver. But now, I prepare my bed, if I really have to, and try to live it with reason. That means, I only blame myself and learn from it. I DO NOT lie on the bed which others lay for me. See I have evolved and come a long way. And I am sure there would be a time when I would rather not make my own bed.

I have had so many times avoided and ignored beds made for me, I guess. It is still very hard to work through the consequences I am facing right now but I am facing them. Hopefully, like you, I get to evolve too, mimpi. Thanks.

Done both. And none seem to be convincing enough. Mantra working or not Saintanne ? There are those who blame God, blame destiny, Blame the numbers, the moon.... On a serious note, the reaction most of the times when things go wrong is to blame myself and wonder if i could do things better.

The mantra works but it adds a little bit more of the guilt spice to the pot. I am like you. I tend to blame myself since it is ultimately me who plays the cards that I was dealt with. Hence the mantra.

yes,I'd rather make decisions and if it fails I'd gladly accept the consequences..most of the time i think of all the outcome first before i start acting on it..I'd rather give it a shot than regretting I never did it and then wonder if I did it what could have happen..

I don't think I regret anything. The consequences are just a little hard to swallow. Thanks, angel.

It has always seem like a bitter comment to me because people do not say it when good things are happening but rather when one made a mistake and must face the consequences. I prefer to pay the consequences for something I did vs for something some other people did

Yeah, people always say that when something goes wrong. Not when things are a-ok because then that's when they start to want to share our beds as well.
