mandating health insurance

I just heard that Obama wants to make health insurance mandatory meaning uninsured Americans would be FORCED to participate in the purchase of health insurance. I thought this was the land of the free? In order to drive in certain states you have to have mandatory car insurance. In NJ the costs are outrageous but you can get away with lower more affordable coverage. As far as health insurance goes, sure I would love to have health insurance but being unemployed I can't afford it. He says it will be affordable, according to who? Like I said, I think we run a lot of risks when we allow our government to dictate what we should pay for. I agree medical insurance is necessary, it costs us more to not have it. I guess I just am rebellious or something. Anyone know what I mean?

How is he going to force someone to do anything? It's called free will. Millions of Americans don't have access to insurance due to the outrageous costs of buying a policy on your own. Those same people can't qualify for public insurance (Medicaid/Medicare for instance) due to the abuse of the system and women on the aid already having 9 kids in 8 years. It's insane. Almost as insane as a president that thinks "free" healthcare is the way to go. He didn't tell you that it's NOT free. You'll be paying upwards of 50-60% of your income to taxes to support this free system. His plan to make it affordable is to jack up taxes for everyone so you think you're getting a deal, when in fact, you are literally working for nothing.

i know, it is sickening. believe me i hate not having health insurance. my husband has it but it would cost too much to put me on it. since i am on unemployment i get less than i was making when i was working. (my former employer didn't offer me insurance cos he was paying for the other employees and figured since i had a husband i didn't need it). obama seems to be doing real well with spending money. what kind of change is that? it sounds to me like you got his number.
