Hugo Chavez, the socialist and democratic(?) president of Venezuela has just succeeded in getting referendum passed which will allow him to remain president for life. He is talking about the 21st century socialism and being quoted as his policy will wipe out poverty. Do you think he is right?

You are right, Hugo Chavez is another socialist, Democratic???? no way, about his policies wipe out poverty, just see the figures, the poverty in Venezuela is increasing, this, althought, the high prices of oil, wich Mr Chavez uses to support other parasites as Nicaragua, Bolivia or Cuba, crime rates, among the highests of the continent, and press and free speach almost supresed. In fact, he is a retroces in the progress of the Latin American region.

Insisting upon being re-elected forever is the first step toward dictatorship. He followed it immediately with heavy restrictions on the press. Where's the freedom or democracy? He seems to be trying very hard to turn yet another country into Cuba, where the people starve for the sake of ideology and things go backward...

I consider him a dictator. He lies to get a lot of attention. I highly doubt he will wipe out poverty in Venezuala.
