If you own a PC, tell me the reason why did you choose your current PC OS(Operating System)?

I wonder... I'm using my os, because its available for free. Sounds funny? Well it is the only reason I'm using linux, Fedora core 10. Now how about you?

I use XP because anything older than that is outdated, and I have a lot of software programs that won't run in Vista. XP has never given me any trouble. My computer guy recommends Linux, but I don't want to take the time to learn a new system, and I like the programs I have that would not work in that.

yes adapting new environment is a hard thing to do. i mean why trying a new way to accomplish a same task? however many found learning a new way are somehow a refreshing experience. any os that you use is okay as long as you think its suit you most.

well, even Ms have to extend their support for XP, because of XP users(end user and software developer) promising numbers and yes, a bit vista drivers compatibility problem. thats a plus point for Ms as they hear customer opinion.

It is XP and I guess it is the best one I am very much familiar with. I have worked with LINUX a bit previously but still it is not the mush easy for me to work with.

I think there are many good online linux community ready to help. Well, I cant deny myself that learning to work different way than what we used to is painfull(as our little mind scream I can do that step easier in old familiar way).

The operating system I chose to use is Mac OS X. I find that it is very stable, clean, and has some great features such as Time Machine, Expose, and Dashboard, and it comes with some good software too. Not only that, there are some great freeware/shareware softwares out there too.. it seems as though it's harder to find as good quality apps on Windows as there are on the Mac. Not only all of the Operating System benefits, the hardware that comes with it is great. Awesome thin, light, ALUMINUM design, and a sweet LED Backlit display. Oh, I love my Macbook Pro.

Here's my question: Why did you chose FC10 over all other distros? Anyway, I use Linux mainly too. Ubuntu 8.1 atm and beta testing 9.04 on the side :) I chose it because I like it better, runs faster, better memory management than Windows in general. Everything feels very accessible. Trouble shooting is very quick too.

Ubuntu is the best distro(distrowatch.com). I am not a resourcefull linux use. I use my pc to write and browse on-line. fedora is enough for my need. ps: i was greedy in the past downloading edu-ubuntu 6.10 and ubuntu 6.10 dvd repo-all 4 dvd. for what? i only need firefox, vim, openoffice and gimp. man... i was a fool. wasting my parents net quota.

ah... yes... many discussion agree that vista is resource intensives... none can blame you for stick in xp, except i also read other discussion that vista offer the best security features... well since Ms has extend their support. i think its okay to stick in xp. still better be prepare to switch to vìsta if ms support is ended. learning something new in a hurry is doubling its difficult level...

I'm using my Xp currently because of the wide range of software to use.. Typically I'm using a P2P software that would only work on windows.. But I really like to move to Linux Which is much more interesting to learn : )
