Are you the type who goes gaga over new fashion, fad, and what's IN? Do you buy things because everyone else has it? Is it important to you that people see you as a fashion icon or someone who 'has' it all? Or Are you the one who dares to be different for the sake of being different?

As it is in fashion, "One day you're in, and the next day, you can be out." Such thinking leads to many people nowadays feeling that fashion is an obligation. In other words, people have grown to become slaves of fashion. The feling of obligation pushes them to come to think that keeping in style makes them more accepted in society. This is also a way for them to feel good about themselves and in turn, increase their self-confidence. The definition of "Fashion" is the prevailing mode or style that is popular in a certain period of time. It is defined by a majority who shares similar tastes in terms of style. But then again, this concept of majority is also started by humans. It iswhen others happen to like the same thing that more and more people feel obliged to think the same way. If the main aim of following th trend is to be popular, then why not start a trend? People mowadays are very influenced by others around them such that it becomes a hindrance. Do they genuinely think that dressing according to the trend makes them look good? Or is it just a superficial thinking that was acquired in order to be "IN"? I would say, that most people are compelled to think so because of peer pressure and the need and want to fit in with everyone else. Fashion does not just plainly refer to mordern trends in today's society. It could be the cultural or traditional style of dressing. It could also be defined by famous or well-known figures. There are many teenagers and people who share the same thinking. Idolising is common among youths, which is another factor that hinders their self expression. To me, if all the people in the world decides that the next big thing would be following the latest trends, then there would be nothing interesting or different and definitely no space for uniqueness. Like i stated above, "One day you're in, and the next day, you can be out." And perhaps some other day, what's "out" will become vintage... So why bother? We should focus more on the things that matter most. It is not worth giving up so much for something that only lasts temporarily.

Welcome to Project Runway! hahahaha... Anyway, you're right, uniqueness and comfort is the key. Why not lead the trend and not just be a follower, right? Hehehee..

Great discussion .I am always maintained that I dont like in fashion because I hate to be looking like everyone and this is usually the situation when you are buy in fashion .That doesnt mean that I want to look like crap when I dress ,itend to go for fashion that is unique ,maybe even slightly retro.

Hi Laydee, I have never really felt the need to be wearing the latest fashion trend or style. I wear what I feel comfortable in and what I think I look good in. I think I have my own style as far as I can tell, all my friends seem to think I look great with the things I wear. Hugs, Tianna

I don't follow trends.I always wear clothes that are comfortable and fits me well.My favorite fashion staples are primary colors, polka dots, stripes, boho prints, big bags, girly skirts, and chunky bangles.Yes, some of them may be "out of season", but I don't really care.

I love clothes, but it is not important for me to be "in".I love clothes that are comfortable and flattering.it doesn't have to be trendy.I don't have the need to be a "fashion icon".
