It's a public holiday here today and I'm absolutely bored senseless!

I'm in one of tose strange moods today where I'm bored out of my skull, but I also couldn't be bothered doing anything about it. I might go out for dinner or something later, but for now I'm about as enthusiastic as Stevie Wonder at a Festival of Light! lol. Do you ever get like this too? Do you just go with it and assume that tomorrow will of course be another day, or do you force yourself to do something? Anyone here ever seen a gladiator fight?

Heya Alok, good evening! I noticed your absence yesterday..... Well I'm not laying in bed, otherwise I'll go insane I think. I can't sit still for periods of time unfortunately, so thank goodness for sleep, otherwise I'd never stop! Today's almost over though, so I'll start fresh tomorrow. It's a work day again too, so there'll be no shortage of things to keep my mind occupied. I was thinking gladiator fight along the lines of full blown arena mayhem! Weapons, chariots..... Sounds like a great boredom reliever if you ask me! Thanks for the response mate.

The absence was for lack of finding something to do. As much as i did log in here a number of times, the lack of enthusiasm made me log out in a few minutes. And yes,Gladiator fight... Give me a sword,a shield, and one of those rocket burner chariots. BTW. Keep those lions away

Rocket burner chariots? Cool! I may just get me a couple of them also..... I think the lions would steer well clear of rocket burner chariots! By the way, I've logged on and off here today myself, but I'm just a bit "blah" for some reason and haven't really looked around the site too much.

Well, I had been saving my annual leave as I'd been expecting to have an operation which would have entailed taking more time off than I am currently allowed on full sick pay... now its virtually the end of the year so I am taking leave with no specific plan in mind. Today I have been to the gym & then walked into town and back; tomorrow I have a day's work in my 'casual' job and Wednesday I have offered to do a colleagues early shift if he is unable to get back from his mum's.(& have an appointment in the afternoon) I'm hoping to visit my son sometime between Friday and Sunday so thats ok but last week.... I was actually glad to go in to work on the Friday!! I'm off for a 'review' appointment with the practice nurse now so, if your BP, cholesterol and blood sugars are lower than mine please feel free to relieve your boredom and go in my place. No I haven't seen a gladiator fight... nor even an alligator fight... I've led a sheltered life

If it's any consolation Wizzy, I haven't seen an alligator fight either. If you do all these things on leave, I don't even wish to think about what you must take on when you're working full time! I actually have no idea what my BP, cholesterol OR blood sugar levels are to be honest. The last time I had any of that stuff checked was over 5 years ago..... I too hope that you get to visit your Son at the end of the week, because the rest of it sounds pretty damn hectic! Thanks for the response and I also hope that having to postpone the operation you were expecting, hasn't caused any major concerns.

Hahahahaha. Dig deep Wizzy and I'm sure you'll be able to come up with a hairstyle to end all hairstyles! Good luck with the BP checks then and be sure to get in as much panda spanking as you can to help offset any future rises, OK. Do the extra shifts mean that you won't be visiting your Son now? I hope this isn't the case! Extra money with less hassles AND a Son visit sound like a great end to the week if you ask me!

My BP was sky high so i have to go back next week (on my day off of course!) My week just got busier as I'm now booked to do Thurs/Fri in my 'casual' job!! It pays much better than the regular job with shorter hours and no excrement (that's politely restrained for me isn't it!!) Friday is, apparently, a 'silly hair' day for Comic Relief but they tell me they dont see how i could make mine any sillier... I love a challenge

I'm like p1key, James. Every day is a holiday for me! I have been working, however, on my jewelry, and I must say, I've been working quite hard on it. Yesterday I worked at least 8 hours and I was exhausted at the end of the day! I expect to put in several hours today also. Whew! I'm working awfully hard at not working! Gladiator fight? Well, I saw the movie Gladiator with Russell Crowe. Does that count? And I've seen them all, Ben Hur, and every romanesque movie that's been made. I love the gladiator theme. The little guy against the system. Love it. Hey, how about Rollerball with James Caan? Ever see that one? What a goody! So, if movies count, then YES, I HAVE seen a gladiator fight, lots of 'em!

Well if it isn't "Super-Nova"! I've heard others mention that it's hard work NOT working as well! lol. You said "however", but making jewellery can't be called not working in any sense, shape or form. I know I wouldn't have the patience for it! I guess the movie Gladiator will have to do for now. I may even allow Spartacus into the mix as well, let's see..... I do remember Rollerball too. And Ben Hur, who could NOT remember the chariot scenes! I think we need to revive Gladiator fighting. Thanks for the response my dear and get yer butt on Skype more often too. I had Bo all lined up again and you were nowhere in sight.

Rollerball actually has nothing to do with gladiators, Alice, lol, but it IS about the individual against the system, and that's what made me think of it, ok? Bohemianheart, darling friend, when we finally Skype, (maybe today, yes yes yes) I will show you some. I've shown some to James and to P1key, so they show up pretty well on camera. Soooooo, what are you doing in about 20-30 minutes? Wanna Skype? Say yes. I'm currently on the horn with p1key, but we should be finished in about 10 minutes or so, probably. I'll let you know.

Every day is a public holiday for me James. Sometimes I think that I would love to get back into work, but who would have a 51 year old clinical depressive that hasn't worked for 2 year almost. So I volunteer instead. Today I have done a course on Grisaille stained glass. Mediaeval designed glass that was and is copied up to the present day. I saw a gladiator fight once. But the lion ate him just at the Emperor put his thumb up to spare him. Tricky guys emperors.

Is it! Goodness me..... You must have far more self-discipline when it comes to keeping yourself busy then, because this is just the one day and I'm going stir crazy! I know of your volunteer work as a guide and think that this sounds fantastic! I think I know of the type of stained glasswork you're referring to as well. Maybe you should try blacksmithing too? Armour's surely gonna make a comeback, it's only a matter of time really and ALL past fashion's seem to have revivals! As for Emperors, "tricky" is quite a nice way to put it! Pompous, fat f&%^'s is probably a more adequate term..... lol. Thanks for the response Pike and I wish you every success in getting back to work if you so choose to in the future.

Hey first of all respect your holiday man!! I don't know much about the working crowd out there.. But my college friends hates holidays. And I am like totally in LOVE with my holidays. You can finally don't worry about getting up early. You can do any thing you want. You can eat anytime you want. You can meet up with your friends and have loads of fun. And the most IMPORTANT thing.. You can sit IDLE!!! Well some times its really like heaven.. sitting idle and doing nothing at all. And in case of forcing yourself to do something.. I never did that. But generally I have loads to of things to.. I like sketching and photography.. SO if nothing I go for some photography.. Mostly inside my house itself. But the worst part of sitting idle is you tend to eat a lot. And you end up with bulging belly!!! huh!! And if nothing else.. I am always up for a good nap!! But seriously its not a crime to sit idle..

I know it's not a crime to sit idle, but my body says otherwise! lol. I'm terrible when it comes to lazing about or sleeping all day and things like that and always have been. It was one of those public holidays that fall into a working week too, (The first day of the working week is Sunday here in Egypt) so it wasn't long enough to really be able to unwind. I'm in the middle of a very busy campaign I designed at work too, so the day of stoppage in the middle of it all is kind of an inconvenience as well. It was a strange day all around actually. I have no concerns with eating a lot when I'm sitting around at home, but I didn't even feel like doing that either! Sometimes I guess we just end up despondent and uninspired. At least it was only for a day! You're lucky to have so many hobbies and interests to keep you busy though. I have this constant cycle of work eating up a majority of my week, so my free time is not always there to be maximized. This is probably why I struggled when finally given the opportunity! Thanks for the response stella.

I was allergic to homework for many years after I had to stay in college an extra year, all because a required course got canceled due to lack of enrollment (enough people came around on the first day to enroll, but it had already been canceled boo). I was so burned out for so long. But now I don't mind any more. Time to get out of the rut and start expanding my mind again.

Bored? Why?Well, in my case, whenever i feel that i am bored of what i do, i just take a brake and think of something new that i haven't tried before like cooking new dishes that i having tasted, or doing things that i don't normally do like cleaning the entire house, or looking into old photo album at home, watch my favorite movie drama or simply just sleep the whole day. I think we can dictates our moods, if we think positive, everything that we do will make sense.

What surprises me is when I'll wake up one day and I know exactly what to do! Thank God for my boring work I have a reason to get up in the morning. Yeah, there are lousy days when the garden doesn't look like it needs serious fixing even if it does, and the house seems clean enough despite the clutter where you could hide a whole Buffalo herd with all the mess, and my nails look trimmed enough even if I could scratch the fur off my cat with it. Yep, even household chores, and personal hygiene don't seem enticing anymore.

Now baking would be a great thing to be doing! But we have no oven here. As for sleeping, not only can;t I sit still long enough to even FALL asleep; I find that if I sleeep during the day, then I can't get to sleep at night. I'm an insomniac already, so this doesn't help at all! Thanks for the response callahan and happy baking!
