Have your hours been cut back at work at all?

Recently my hours have been cut back about 5 hours a week. It doesn't really sound like much, but that adds up to about $100 each paycheck or more! I am thinking about looking for a part-time job. How have things been at your job? Has anyone been laid off or had their hours cut back? I am grateful just to have a job, but I certainly need more money now...

I am grateful to have my job too, Bethany1202. In a strange twist of fate, I have picked up four extra hours per week. I am really thankful and pray that my job remains secure. I have lost demos, though. I use to work three to six per month and now I work only one or two; this is a significant lost of income. I try to make up for the loss online. I wish you luck finding something to bridge your finanial gap. Ever think about a home-based business?

Where I work hasn't really cut my hours, they just don't pay us for all the work we do. I am a nurse in a nursing home and my shift is 7a-330p. I never get out at 330. There is way too much work to be done. Doctors orders, labs to be reported to the doctor, charting on the residents, etc... Anyway, even if I punch out at 415p, they change the time in the computer to 330p, so they don't have to pay overtime. I wish someone would call the labor board on them and get them in trouble, but I am too scared to do it. I need my job, such as it is.

not yet, but since i work for a non profit organization, we arent getting as much money coming in, but my boss said today he wont lay off anyone until he really has to. he is pretty good, but my hubby has had some hours cut but he has some gigs on the side, so it wont hurt us as much.

Well I have been unable to work for the last 2 years Bethany so it has not happened to me but my other half has been told that his job will no longer exist after May. The whole manufacturing floor of the plant where he works and everyone is losing their job. I know it must be hard to lose those hours but it is better than having to lose your job all together. If there are part time jobs available perhaps that would be a good idea - I hope things go okay! xxx

I'm a stay at home dad so my hours seem to increase, I did have a part time gig but they had to let me go because they were cutting back and expanding in China. I'm cool with it though. Hope things are better for you later on.
