Who is running the Country?

I was very disturbed by a comment made by Senator Reid when he was asked why he did not let the vote on the suspending the automatic pay raises for members of congress. He said that Speaker Pelosi did not want any changes in the bill. Then today President Obama signed the bill even though he said it was imperfect. He also said that he didn't not want congress to get bogged down on this bill. It has been reported that He told Speaker Pelosi what he wanted in the stimulus bill and let her write it. He could have vetoed the special spending package and let them continue doing special spending bills. President Clinton and President Bush both challenged Congress on a budget bill they though was out of line. What is President Obama afraid of with Speaker Pelosi? What does she have on him?

Pelosi and Reid are running it. Obama dares not get in their way or anyone else in congress as was obvious by him going back on his word and letting all these earmarks through. Now He has changed completely and said some earmarks are good. I guess the change he meant was him changing what he said while he was running. Congress and Pelosi are going to bankrupt us and it is sad if any of these people get reelected.

I hope the credit crunch and loss of jobs hits Pelosi's area worse than any place in the country - then maybe the people that have voted for her - arrogance and all - go to the polls in their droves and get rid of her. Obama needs to get a backbone where she is concerned.

President Obama has no idea what he is doing. Many of us told people befroe the election that all he could do was give a good speach (with a teleprompter). What needs to happen is a leader emerge who has a definate plan and how to implement it. Then he/she needs to work with the consertive Democrats and the Republicans to form a coalition toslow things down. Then let the voters, in 2010, vote the Democrats out and that is the only way to remove Speaker Pelosi.

The democrats are running the country. It isn't a mater of what anyone has on anyone else, it is a matter of the democrats finally getting to spend what they want after being prevented for all of those years while the republicans were in control. They are simply making up for lost time. The republicans spent way too much while they were in and tried to act like democrats, and as a result lost their political power. Now that the democrats once more are in control of the country, they intend to show us all what runaway socialist spending really is.

What the Republicans need to do is talk about how Speaker Pelosi is calling the shots and show the country that President Obama is not willing to stand up to her. Even though they both agree on many things President Obama has to be shown that he is not a leader but is being directed by Speaker Pelosi.

The president never really had much power, that always rested with congress and especially the leaders of congress. A strong president can whip congress in line with what he wants to achieve but if congress wants to run amok with the legislation and completely disregard the president, they can do that. He can veto stuff, but they can even get over that hurdle. In the current situation Pelosi very much pulls the strings. She has been around for much longer than Obama in politics and she knows the workings of congress. Obama did not familiarize himself as he chose to be on the campaign trail during his time as a senator only to pop in occasionally to cast some sort of usually present vote. She probably told him he better sign this, then the table would be free to go to work on his agenda, which may or may not go through. As of know, there is every indication that Pelosi runs the show.

President Reagan did it with a Democratic Congress and President Clinton did it with a Republican Congress. You have to work with the ones that agree with you and forget the rest. Build a different coalition each issue you wish to deal with.

To be honest in my opinion I will let this earth go to hell in a egg basket because most humans destroy it themselves, I mean I believe that is why God doesnt have floods anymore. Some of the ideas in congress that are even talked about are ridiculous. I am looking forward to Jesus being my president.

From my understanding, we do not have floods anymore because God promised we wouldn't and that is why there are rainbows:) But I agree that it is humankind (not all of it) that is destroying the earth. But if not them then who else? All I do is my best to conserve the earth and it's resources the best I can for myself and my family. Thus while encourageing those around me to do the same.
