What gives with pasting links on here?

I am now a very confused.com. I know you have to have 500 posts before you can paste anything here (totally unfair IMHO, 200 is surely enough to deter the trollers?) Anyhow, this morning I responded to a discussion, went to post a link to a writing site (non paying/non referral) And - hey presto, I was allowed through! Twice over! Nice blue line underneath and everything. Ah, thought I, maybe they've realised I'm a quality not quantity poster and relaxed the rules a bit. Until ... Just went to another discussion on something equally trivial, tried to post a link to the Discovery channel website (info on alien planet documentary) and - I was back to being locked out again! The usual 'You are only allowed to pasted once you have posted 500 or more ...' box appeared. Has this happened to anyone else? I was a bit peeved that some people with much less than 500 posts seem able to paste in links - including affiliate links - but guess they must hand type them in. So how did I get round the 500 posts ban before? Was it a glitch in the system, or does MrDos910 have special powers MyLot don't know about?
