Hi, I think your response is the only one in favor. I've had doxies (mini) all my life.....they are the best! I was just thinking about trying something different. Thank You.

Our Queen keeps dogs (and so does her daughter, Princess Anne). They are both very fond of corgis, so I would imagine that our Royal Family would favour that breed. The problem is that Princess Anne's corgis have been known to be as unloyal to their sovereign as to bite her heels. Perhaps, though, they were really just egged on by the Queen's Own. I think that, for loyalty, you can't really beat a spaniel or a basset hound. They have such sad eyes.

Well, all dogs are willing to be a loyal friend. To answer this accurately it would be great to know of your living situation, are there any kids, spouse, house, apartment, working etc. Some dogs are better in a family setting, some rather not be around kids, some like a farm setting and some can do well in an apartment. For now I can honestly say that chihuahuas are known as barkers. They may be clingy and I am not sure of their loyalty. I know first hand that Jack Russel's or Russel Terriers tend to bond with one person and prefer it that way in a forever loving home with lots of exercise. German Shepard's are very loyal dogs. So are Husky and Malamute. Overall, I feel it really depends on your living situation(s) but also training and how dedicated the handler is to their dog that will determine how loyal your dog is towards you.

I really don't know much about chihuahua but because I have asthma I can only have poodles and my I'm pretty good with my Maltese. My last poodle was a loyal and loving little dog but I have to say this pure bred Maltese is the best dog I have ever seen in my whole life. She wasn't cheap but is worth every dime.

Hi dixie! Well since you asked , let me tell you about my German Shepherds :) I think they are the most loyal breed . They are soo tuned into everything the owner does . If they feel there is danger they are right there ready to defend . They are loving and gentle with family and friends . They are very smart, strong and beautiful dogs . Sometimes I think mine think they are chihuahuas when they are trying to sit in our laps . They are an awesome breed. However they do eat and poop a little more then a chihuahua , lol

There's really so such things as the 'most loyal' breed of dog. Each dog has its own individual personality, and while many breeds do have specific traits, loyalty is all across the board. What you want to look for in choosing a dog are these things: 1) If you're looking for a purebred, make sure you research the breeders and the breed's most common health problems. Most purebreds have something that's genetically inclined to go wrong. Chihuahuas, for instance, often suffer from patella luxation, retinal atrophy, and hydrocephalus. All of which can be extremely taxing on the animal, you, and your finances. 2) The space you have and the time you have to offer to the dog. Some breeds need a great deal more attention than others. Some need special grooming, and more upkeep than others. Something like a pomeranian or a pekingese needs daily brushing and grooming, sometimes even twice a day, to take proper care of their coats. And a small note on chihuahuas... I have a lot of experience handling dogs, and if you have small children or small children visit your home often, a chihuahua may not be for you. They're very excitable and fragile little dogs, and they resort to biting very quickly if they feel frightened or distressed in any way. Good luck choosing a dog!
