Have you ever been ordered to take your sick leave ?

This morning, Tuesday March 17, 2009, I was ordered to take the sick leave the doctor gave me because the employers where I work decided it was the best thing under the circumstances. I came to work while sick thinking it wouldn't matter but it appears the illness is aggravated by my work conditions so they told me to take the sick leave. Has this ever happened to you ? What do you think of this ?

This is right decision to take sick leave if not feeling well means no proper working in office. We think no problem we should go in office but when other employers notice this then they understand we are not feeling well. I also take many times sick leave when I was in a Company.

I think your boss is good to you, I haven't been in this situation. but I was ordered to take my annual leave together with New year holiday because of the finance crisis.

I have not experienced being ordered to take my sick leave. I work in a call center for almost 3 years here in the Philippines and we are (as much as possible)not allowed to be sick at all. Although we have sick leaves but they are not advising us to use it. If we are sick, we are still asked to come to work, just time in and if your supervisor is extra nice,(like the ones I have) you will not work for the day, you will just rest. The challenging part is coming to and from work. What I do is getting a cab to be more convenient and I will feel less stressed from being sick during my travel period.
