Do you consider global warming to be a serious issue? If so, why? If not, why?

it's as serious as a toxic goiter. but as now, no one has to escape from it. its all over us now. what can we do is to minimize activities that can contribute to more warming because the effects are that really extreme. instead of burning papers, recycle them.

Global warming is the increase in the average temperature of the Earth's near-surface air and the oceans since about 1940s and its projected continuation. Effects : The increasing global temperature will cause sea levels to rise and will change the amount and pattern of precipitation. Other possible effects include Arctic shrinkage and resulting Arctic methane release, shrinkage of the Amazon rainforest which is already quite damaged by dofrestation from loggin and farmin, increases in the intensity of extreme weather events, changer in farming yields, modifications of trade routes, glacier retreat, species extinction and changes in the ranges of diseases.

I think it's a serious issue, because there is science to back it up. And, because a couple years ago I saw the film "An Inconvenient Truth" (Al Gore). A lot of people don't believe in global warming for some reason, though, and therefore don't consider it to be a huge issue. *sigh*. What about you? What are your opinions, jw? By the way, welcome to myLot!
