Hey guys.. I'm thinking of getting myself a Nintendo Wii within the year. Do you think it's a good idea? Why or why not? What are the pros & cons of having one? Thanks in advance!

I like the Wii we bought one for my son on christmas but I think we enjoyit as much as him. I know a lot of people without kids that have all kind of game systems if its what you like you should get it. They come up with pretty active games or if you dont like that theres one of my favorites Mario Kart.

well depends if you have kids if you have kids then yeah as mine love the wii, if you havent got kids I would personally go for another console the wii is geared more towards younger game players altho there are more and more adult games coming out for it.

I would go for another console then if am honest, I prefer playing on my ps3 tho kids prefer wii. Tho wii fit is very useful on the wii and its also alot more physical when your playing a game on the wii, have seen me sweating buckets while fighting with my son on star wars.

The only con i could see is they are expensive. I want to get one really bad but know that i cant blow that kind of money right now. It is a good way to get fit. I know i have heard from a couple of people that it works great.

Yes, I've heard that it's very helpful if you want to get fit. Since it's a bit expensive, I'll try to save up money every payday just so I could have something to pay for the Wii. :)

well since i just got one i would say buy, buy i really love it. we got it mostly for the fitness part of it needing to lose some pounds and this seemed like a fun way to do it. since getting the system I've lost about 15 pounds and we play it pretty much everyday and its a fun way to exercise. we got the wii fit for the exercise package it comes with a fitness board i was doing some kind of step class the other day and jogging it was a good workout though i didn't do too well with the step class kept getting my feet mixed up lol. i would definitely recommend it.

I'm planning on buying one myself but the only problem is for me, is the price. It's so expensive in my opinion. I know it's a lot cheaper than other consoles, but it's still rather expensive. The games for it are really expensive too. I have a Gamecube and one of the things that I really like about the Wii is that it can play Gamecube games too. That is making it more of a want for me too because I can play the GC games and then play the Wii games all on one console without worrying about having to switch consoles and what not.

I guess it all depends on what games you're into. If you like Mario/Zelda/Metroid/Animal Crossing, Wii is the system for you. If you want to be able to play classic games from the Nintendo shop channel, (Kid Icarus, old-school Castlevanias, Super Mario RPG, Super Metroid, Super Mario World, Punch-Out and a lot of others) Wii is the system. It's probably the most durable system of the three and it takes up the least amount of space. If you plan on playing games like Wii Sports a lot, you should get one of those battery re-charging kits so you don't have to invest all your money in batteries.

I got one for myself yesterday - second hand. For a really good deal. I really enjoyed playing it so far. i wouldnt have paid full price for it though but I'm cheap. One con is that my sister who lives with my parents - i live on my own - thinks my Wii should live with her at her house and i should have visiting rights already (11 year olds come up with the strangest things!)

Hi icecroft. It would really depend on the type of games you enjoy playing. My whole family enjoy playing with the Wii especially the wii sports, wii fit, soul calibur and mario kart. It's a good family bonding activity. The downside of having a wii is it would eat up a lot of your time... Thanks and have a great day!

i have a nintendo wii and its fun to play the interactive games. wii music is a game that i bought when i really shouldnt have at first it was fun then a couple of days later i found myself basically bored because the game is so simple and there are only 50 songs most are old and alot are lame to me. but they wiis pretty great you can use any sd card up to 2gb and veiw photos with the photo channel also little videos. the wii also has internet capabilities which is okay but you can basically only watch youtube videos, you cant watch videos on sites like hulu. which sucks and you have to buy the internet channel which is about 1000 wii points or $10. id rather just use my computer for internet. you can use your current internet connection for wii internet you just have to buy the littele connetion cord.they have virtual console games on the wii you can buy and download to your wii using the shop channel, which alot of the games are fun and worth buying like mario kart 64. when you use internet you can play certain games like animal crossing where when you exchange friend codes with some one you can have up to four friends anywhere that have a wii and internet to talk to and play with. just like supersmash bros. brawl for wii where you can fight up to for people around the world. if you do get animal crossing city folk for the wii i suggest you buy the one with wii speak because it takes a longer to type with the wii mote. also if you plan on getting the internet channel i advise you to get a key board to be able to type faster.

I think Wii is a good purchase because it suits both adults and kids. It's addictive, once you start playing you can't stop! I can't stop! :) I have one here but now I'm not playing much. I am taking a break because I have a lot of work to do now. But as soon as I finish my affairs around here I'm going back to playing Super Mario Galaxy (it's the best game for Wii in my opinion)
