I went out for supper the other night and a friend ordered Steak. Me being a farm kid - we have beef ALL the time steak too - I never order steak in a resturant its so expensive. He was asked and how do you like your beef? I was asked how do you like your burger done? while i was in minnesota this january - I had a blank look on my face so my boyfriend answered for me. What are my options? If i was asked how do you like your beef I'd be tempted to answer young and cute. OR No longer mooing, cut into peices and cooked on a grill til its just a teenie bit pink. None of that beef thats going to just get up and walk off my plate. So...what are really my options other than rare medium rare well done and burnt? and what do they really mean? How do you like you beef???

I only like it when it's oven made and boiled a lot before that. Than, it has such a great flavour, all the spices and vegetables you boil them together enter the meat. Also, it's very easy to eat, it's almost melting in your mouth. In any other way, the beef meat it's very hard on my teeth. It's stuck between my teeth, hard to get out, hard to eat. And not always the taste it's something that worths having it. I like best the chicken meat, this one I can eat , in any way it's prepared.

Sounds like an old fashioned pot roast to me, and I agree, it is yummy and melts in your mouth.

It freaked me out when i worked at mcdonalds - they cook the burgers on high heat both sides at once. when they came out there would be blood pooled on the top. it just ickified me!

Hey saundyl! I like your answers! I like my beef or steak medium rare! That is my usual answer! I don't want it to be able to still moo or walk off my plate either! I don't even want to remember that it ever had a face or mouth or I wouldn't even consider even eating it since I love animals too much! I prefer that I think that my beef comes from steak trees and I don't want anyone to tell me anything else!

When it comes to burgers, I like burgers that are juicy, not dry, but not bleeding pink either. On the other hand, I like my steaks as rare as I can get them. I toss them on the flaming BBQ or open fire grate for a half a minute, flip it over, do the other side a half a minute, and it's nice and rare.

we dont have steak a whole lot but when we do, i love to have it quite rare so its very red in the middle yet. we dont get to choose how our hamburger is done though, you can get nasty food poisoning if they arent done properly.

Some might say rare ,medium ,over done, well done but I go with cooked just plain and simple .It can be grilled ,baked ,stewed or roasted but it must be cooked .I am not cool with cutting my meat and seeing blood.I dont know how others do it and I wont judge but I dont EVER see myself eating meat like that .Good Discussion

I personally like my steak medium rare. As far as you other questions are concerned, I will stay far away from a steak that is rare because its not cooked at all, medium rare means that the meat is a little pinkish on the inside but is easy on the teeth to chew and the juices don't evaporate from the steak. Well done means that the steak is almost fully cooked through and through but it can be tough on your teeth and not as favorable and juicier as medium rare steak.

I think another option is medium, right there in the middle. Hubby would be able to tell you in temperatures what they mean, I cannot. Rare is bluish and cool, medium rare is warm in the middle and red to pink. Medium is still pink, well done is no pink and burnt is really dark brown or black. I like mine medium rare, but it needs to be hot or really warm.
