What is your take on the AIG bonus payments?

AIG is facing the heat on it's payment of retention bonuses to the tune of 160 million dollars from the federal bailout package. What is your take on this issue and how do you think they should be dealt with? Cheers! Ram

Well, they really need to pay bonuses as the company have no choice and was conractually obligated to pay them. The US government have tough rules on the corporate compensation but eventually force the AIG to repay the cost of bonuses to the taxpayer as part of the agreement per imposed by them.

But paying such a huge package when they were embroiled in such a big mess was really an awful thing to do. Cheers! Ram

yup and they have no choice they just need to pay it to compensate for the ordeal they had started before rather than nothing at all..
