Shoes in the house.Yes or no.

Are shoes allowed in your house? Should we differentiate between family and visitors.Did you grow up in a house with a "no shoes policy?" and if so do you now insist on the same in your own house?

I did grow up in a no shoes house. However now as an adult i prefer having something on my feet in my own house so i wear light slippers. When people come over i don't mind if they leave their shoes on as hardwood can be chilly but most people take their shoes off.

When I was growing up we walked all over the house in our wellies, my mother wasn't in the least bit house-proud! In my own house, I don't wear shoes that I have worn out in the garden in the house, but if I've been out in the car my shoes are cleaner so I do wear them in the house. Most of the time I'm in slippers though. No I don't ask visitors to take off their shoes, although a lot of people start to do it anyway.
