I have a closet full of board games that we like to play. Clue, Sorry, Candy Land, Scrabble, and my favorite, Monopoly. We still like to sit down and play them as a family. It is not something we do all of the time, but we do still enjoy playing them. I was wondering, with all of the available video games and systems, and the access to gamesa on-line, do you still play the traditional board games?

My husband and I play scrabble almost every night. We just finished a game (he won) I'll get him next time :) We often play games with our kids like monopoly, trivial pursuit, etc. and with the younger ones we play kerplunk. They love it. When I was a teacher's aide in an elementary school, we used board games when teaching life skills to some learning disabled children. You can use it to teach patience, how to wait for your turn, not butting ahead and also for kids that have a hard time making friends, some times it is just good to let them join a game with a few others.

Well yes, I do still play many board games. I have never got bored of board games, I love to play them with my family as it really helps in spending a good quality time with them. Anyways, I really think that most board games are timeless classics that can never be stopped playing. I love the board game Monopoly and play a lot of that game, however, I also play the board games like Scarbble which has actually helped me improve my vocabulary. Anyways I think it is much more intellectual to play board games than sitting on the computer and playing PC games like dumbos.

Well you might not believe this but I recently learn how to play Monopoly. Am an only child so my parents never saw the need to buy board games for me to play, so my husband has taken it upon himself to buy the game so we can play it together. I really like it's really fun I see why it's such a classic game and am I happy I learned how to play it.

Hello, Actually you just reminded me to play some board games, because I haven't touched a board game since I was a little boy. I remember the good old days when my brother and I would sit down and get out a board game such as Monopoly, or some other ones, and we would play for about 5 hours straight. After that (my brother usually always won for some reason) I would get really sick of it, and my brother would keep on nagging me to play again. I don't play board games anymore, this is probably because of the great computer games you can play right now.

The problem with video games is the limited number of players that can join in the games. Also, it can never really replace that feeling of closeness when one plays boardgames with family members and friends. At home, I thought my nieces and nephews to play video games but we still prefer to play boardgames - scrabble, chinese checker, chess and monopoly - or just to stroll out and play kids games on the park. I know that it is important for my nieces and nephews to know and get accustomed with modern gadgets/games but I there are other things that can't be thought through computers/videogames. With boardgames and other outdoor games, kids will learn more the value of teamwork and getting along with others.

every once in awhile, my friends or family will sit around and play a game of blokus, monopoly, clue, cranium, apples to apples, or life (the only bored games my family or friends own. This doesn't happen very often, because we'd rather be out doing things!!

playing board game is family bonding moment for us. we are 7 in the family and playing scrabble and monopoly is sure a lot of fun for us!! for the guys during sundays they play chess and my younger brother and sister play snakes and ladder which leave the pc in my own. hehehe we like playing games if we dont have assignments to do or if we are waiting for someone or for the delivery man to come.. i think children should play more of this traditonal games rather than playing online games. its more fun and it can enhance your brain functions and it wont harm your eyes coz your not facing the pc for many hours. hehe

I would play them if I still had them! I don't have any board games at the time, but I wish I did! My boyfriend and I always say that we need to pick up games, but the prices have gone up - a lot! Monopoly is like 50 dollars, and the other games are upwards of 25. I really wish I had saved my games from when I was younger!

I love playing board games! I played them a lot with my family, as a child. And it's something I still enjoy doing. My fiancee and I sit down, when we have the time, to play some board games. One of my all time favorites is Yahtzee. I like Life, Scategories, Scrabble, and many many others! I can't wait to have children of my own and have game nights with them. I think game nights are a great idea.

My family likes to play scrabble. We play other games too but scrabble has become the family favorite. We also play card games like Go Fish. Hopefully the kids will still enjoy playing games with their parents as they get older. Wishful thinking?

Interesting question! Probably not as much seeing as there are so many technologies out there to entertain us:-) However, my husand and I do pull out our Monopoly board and play every now and again. Our 7 year old daughter loves to play and her playing "banker" has helped her learn to count money!

I think it all depends on what gewneration you grew up in. Myself was still young when the original Nintendo came and it was a big hit. But that never stopped me and my sister from pulling out the Monaoply set. I think kids these days are shying about from the board games and are into video games because they are independent. You dont have to worry about someone cheating or yelling at you-you are against yourself pretty much. But we still do pull out boards games every once in a while but definately not as much as we used to.
