Don't you think that in this modern age child labor should be legalized?

This just suddenly came up my mind when reading articles about law. I mean, if it we're legalized, then the government would have to do something about it like make laws that would protect them right? Besides, child labor is now rampant. Plus if it we're legalized then it would really help them a lot since they would now be workers in the community. They'll have minimum wage and will have benefits from the government? So what do you think?

No I do not. I believe that it is in the best interest of everyone for the child to go to school and receive an education. I do agree with children helping with a family store and teenagers helping out thier families with part time jobs. I do not think that these activities should ever be put in front of a sound education. It is what they learn that will take them where they need to be. so give them a head start by putting education first.

Yeah but if you we're in the position of those poor kids, do you think you'll think of education first rather than how to earn money and buy food for your hungry stomach.

It's funny you bring that up. My husband and I talk occasionally about getting our 6 year old daughter a job. lol. The thing is...there are a lot of jobs that she could do. She's actually very smart and capable. The only jobs that seem to be acceptable for children are jobs as actors or something in that line of work. My child is beautiful, but there's no way I would try to get her involved in the crazy life of a star. It messes kids up too much. She even went so far one day as to ask the manager of a Taco Bell for a job. It was so cute...he didn't know what to say. She told him she could take the money (which she really could...ha ha) and he said she had to be a little older. She cried and he didn't know what to say. She played him like a fiddle! She's such a ham! When she was crying she told him she wanted to save money to go to some amusement park or something. It was so cute. I guarantee that if given the chance my daughter would choose to work a few hours a week and get a paycheck to take to wal mart and buy barbie dolls, you bet she'd do it! Will she help me around the house for money? Heck no. lol. But that's the way it goes, I guess...

Children are not laborers. There will be plenty of time for them to toil life away when they are older. Childhood is for the pursuit of childish things. Children should have the opportunity to enjoy their childhood and all the wonder that goes with it.

^_^ That's nice. Yeah they're not laborers, they're children but they can be both right? Also, Children have the opportunity to enjoy their childhood and all the wonder that goes with it. But how can they (the poor children in poor families)enjoy their childhood with no food on their stomach. Can't you enjoy yourself when your working? The point is it'll help them a lot. And if you tell this to these poor kids, I doubt if they will listen. Thanks for the reply.
