Make money with photography?

United States

I have seen a couple that ask the same things, but I also like to be able to take my own pictures and sites or take pictures of others. We have many photographers in my "local" area that I know doing my own photography studio or whatnot wouldn't be beneficial. Is there anything that someone can do in their spare time to either upload photo's, send in photo's, take for other people and use the internet at the same time to make extra income at home? Thank you for your help.

There are lots of ways you can make money with your photos online! I have some ways listed in my blog http://funonlinemoney.blogspot.com/2009/03/ways-you-can-earn-with-your-photos.html There are also websites you can upload your photos to for sale, then you get paid when people download them. You can read more about doing that here http://funonlinemoney.blogspot.com/2008/12/sell-your-photos.html And of course you can always sell prints of your photographs online! I'd recommend selling them at: Redbubble.com deviantart.com cafepress.com zazzle.com All of those websites are free to join. You just upload your photo, add it to the product(s) you want to sell, then the website handles the rest! People can order one of your prints, then the website creates the product, charges the customer and ships their order. Then the website sends you a cut of the money!

hey! thanks for those links & ideas! i've been with cafepress.com for awhile now & have had fun with it! it's also good for making t-shirts for organizations/events/reunions and things like that, things that are more personal that you can sell to your friends & stuff.

You can sell your images on stock photography websites. Do a search for stock images or got to my profile and look at my images. This will give you an example of what to do. Also look at Triond.com. I am also a member there as well. You could also take photos at your local events and offer to sell a CD with the images for a set fee. I have done that a few times. I was just recently asked to take some photos for a friend at her wedding and really look forward to that.

Also be sure that everyone you know knows you take pictures. I was just asked to do a photo shoot of a wedding reception in July and all they want is the card. They will take the photos and have them printed. A friend of mine referred me to these people and they will pay me $100 and I will get a free meal for it. Not bad for an amateur. I am also going to be doing photos for a second friend of mine around October. I won't make a living doing this but I will get my name out there and make some extra cash. I also just had some of my photos put onto a brochure that our Police Department is using to promote the department and get new recruits. All of these things are good for getting my name out there.

Yes there are some sites for this type of work. But all of these sites provide very less income. So I want to suggest you that believe more on your offline job.
