First of all, I think it is awesome that you have started a group about point and shoot cameras and photography! There needs to be more of those. I think lighting is a good starter topic, but also you could add about point and shoot camera settings. Some of the best photography advice I've gotten hasn't really been so much about the technical stuff so much as the basics of using proper settings on my camera. ISO settings can be very confusing as well as the different scene settings found on many point and shoot models. I think that would also be some good advice to start off on. I learned a lot of different setting uses but the ISO stuff helped with my lighting tremendously.

Give them an assignment to photograph for each meeting. Make it something that will make them think about the pictures. I did this with a class and they had lots of fun with it. The Assignment is to photograph what ever you like but the photo must contain .... Some things I have used are a specific color - it must contain red. you can also use a specific word, it must show action or many or one. You could use a topic, it must contain something related to Christmas. You want to leave it wide open so that they have to think about what they are photographing. This will help them to develop their creativity and how they see the world around them. Then have them select 3 or 4 to explain to the group and then select one of those to be entered into a contest. Let the group talk about what makes it good and what they don't like about the photo. This will help them become critical thinkers. following are a couple of articles that I have written on photo editing: 1. Using Photoshop to insert a person or object into a photo on HubPages http://hubpages.com/_1ydkgrbkkj5s3/hub/Using-Photoshop-to-insert-a-perosn-or-object-into-a-photo?e-emailhub 2. Photo Color on Black and White on HubPages http://hubpages.com/_1ydkgrbkkj5s3/hub/Photo_Color_on_Black_and_White?e-emailhub 3. Cropping with Photoshop Elements on HubPages http://hubpages.com/_1ydkgrbkkj5s3/hub/Cropping_with_Photoshop_Elements?e-emailhub I have more that I would be willing to share if you are interested.
