Mine is HP Pavilion dv1000 Entertainment notebook PC. It is getting hot very soon after the usage of 30-40 minutes. I found that the fan in the Laptop is not running continuously and it is running now and then. What could be the cause for this type od problem. I think it is supposed to run continuously but one of my friends told me on some other day, the fan need not run continuously and it will run when the laptop become overheat. But even after the running of the fan , the heat is going on increasing. What to do?

Don't you worry, all laptops fan are just like yours. Mine too the fan run only when the laptop is overheat. If you think that your laptop is getting overheated then buy some accesoires to cool your laptop. There are manytpe of accesoires to cool your laptop. Some are fans, you put the accesoires under your laptop. There is another type which does not use electricity. This is more cheap. It is made of aluminium and there is a gap between the aluminium bars to allow the circulations of air. You can put it on any surface.

I have a similar problem with my HP and I keep it elevated in front of a tower fan that keeps it cool enough so that it doesn't go black and shut itself down. This is apparantly an issue with HP laptops from what I have read online.

Good luck! I am planning to purchase a smaller fan that can be more portable to be able to take the computer with me. Sometimes it is fine if I have enough clearance underneath but sometimes it goes out right away depending on the temperature in the room so I am looking for a little fan that will only cool the computer (the one I have now is too big and makes me cold sometimes). I tried those laptop cooling fans you place underneath but they don't produce enough wind power.

Better to use your laptop using laptop stand .Because of your laptopfan is not running place your laptop by leaving some space beloww the laptop surfce .the air will be circulated your laptop will not be heated up.
