Chewing gum disposal

Warm weather is coming where I live, and one of my 'favorite' pet peeves will soon become an issue...at least with me. Gum chewers, who spit their gum out where ever they happen to be when they're done with it, drive me crazy! There's not a lot more disgusting than to step in a liquified pile of goo, that's going to be stuck to the bottom of your shoe for days...not to mention anywhere you happen to drag it. I know full well that there are bigger problems in the world to worry about, but this one has always bugged me. Am I alone thinking like this?

I am with you in this. It is especially yucky when I was at the university (and even way back elementary, come to think of it) and I happen to touch the underside of my chair and.. ugh. That's most disgusting. To think that there are trash cans everywhere. And they could've used the gum wrapper to dispose of the gum after chewing it. Really, some people don't have manners.

It is very disgusting to accidentally tough some one's gum. The undersides of seats, tables and even the arm rests in theaters are places you couldn't pay be to touch. Wouldn't it be great to have these places wired with some kind of sensor to sound an alarm when some one tries to plaster their gum there? I for one, would love to see their faces when the alarm sounds and everyone stares at them.

In terms of disposed chewing gum it is even worse when you find someone has already stuck his chewed gum under the chair you are trying to use, for the same purpose, and it is still sticky.

I know that feeling! I'm afraid to put my fingers under public seats, tables and even the armrests at movie theaters. It's really irritating to step in it in a darkened theater, which are supposed to be cleaned after each performance. Apparently they aren't.

I hate that too. It seems to be a huge problem in parking lots. Mall parking lots, Walmart parking lots, it doesn't matter. People just spit it out not caring. I think it is funny when a person spits out their gum, then accidentally steps on it themselves. I remember watching an episode of Dirty Jobs, and the host was riding along with a company that professionally cleans gum off the sidewalks of businesses. I think the company was called Gum Busters or something. It's hard to remember.

Although that's one job I wouldn't want, I think they could do a tidy business down here. In fact, I can't imagine that they'd run out of work assignments..lol. Maybe that's something the courts could consider instead of having people sit in jail for minor crimes. And, yes it IS funny when some one steps in their own gum. I've had the pleasure of seeing that a few times. When the culprit/victim (cultim?) looks around to see if anyone saw, I usually wave. Good to see you Ambie, are you feeling any better?

Yes, I'm better, thank you. You know, the guy said one surprising thing about doing the gum removal, is that it stinks. Apparently when the stuff they use to get it off hits the gum, it mixes with the saliva from the gum and creates a stinky odor.

Your not alone in this...thats one of my pet peeves too. I hate getting out of the car, and stepping on a big wad of gum, thats so gooey and stringy, and no matter what you do it just seems to get worse. I don't know why people do that either, I usually save the wrapper it came in and put it in there when I'm done with it. This always happens to me at Wal-mart...haha.

When I was in elementary school, if some one was caught spitting gum out, onto the ground, that kid had to pick it up and wear it on their nose for a couple of hours. Nowadays that would probably be considered child abuse...but I don't remember hardly any gum in the school playground. I've stepped in my share at Walmart too, and grocery stores. I guess they get rid of it before they go through the checkout and buy more...
