What are your favorite ways to make canned tuna? Like most folks we are trying to cut back but still get a bit of protein in our diet. I was hoping for some good caserole + tuna salad ideas or whatever you have found to make it into a tasty dish for your family.

I normally make tuna salad sandwiches with mine. Instead of mayo I use ranch dressing. Mine are pretty basic. Tuna, ranch dressing, lettuce, and bread. Simple but really good. I mix the tuna, ranch and lettuce together and then put it on the bread.

Well, since spaghetti is one of my favourite foods, but also very fattening, a friend of mine showed me how to make the sauce with tuna instead of ground beef..Thats right, she fries the tuna with onions and uses 2 cans, and this becomes the base for the meat sauce, then continues to add peppers, mushrooms, tomato sauce and all the spices. It does not taste fishy at all and is a great low fat substitute when making spaghetti. I even fooled my kids with it.

We sometimes toss a can of tuna in with a pasta and cream sauce. Or if we're tired or going really cheap, we toss it in with some boxed macaroni and cheese. Sometimes we also do tuna melt sandwiches. We use a really good bread or even a bagel, top it with the tuna, put a slice of cheese on it, and stick it in the oven for a few minutes. I would suggest checking www.allrecipes.com for tuna recipes.

My mom's low-budget tuna casserole. 2 bags of potato chips, 2 cans of tuna, 2 cans of cream of mushroom soup, and 2 can-fulls of milk
