What is the best company to host a website?

United States

I'm looking to start my own site, and I'm wondering what is the best place to host my domain? (i.e. 1&1, dreamhost) Write whatever you feel. What is the best value for your money? What gives the best service? Is there some place you would NOT recommend? Give me the dish!

Oooh, that is a nice looking site! I am getting more confused with each entry. There are a lot of options out there. Thanks for the response. I will have to think about all this for a bit. I'm waiting until Mercury goes direct anyway.

1&1.com - 1&1.com
I would have to recommend 1&1.com Ive been with them for several years and have never had a problem, plus their rates are a whole lot cheaper than most.

I do not really understand why I would want a .ws website. I have never heard of that. Can you explain it more? I don't know what that means. Thanks.

Thanks for your perspective on 1&1. My dh has his site through them (www.shamelesscreations.com) so I am pretty likely to go with them, but I do want to explore my options.

I really like Kiosk because the hosting is fantastic, inexpensive ($5.95/mo), and if you refer anyone, they pay you a referral fee every month. Those can add up fast and create an additional source of income.

Thank you for your nice compliment and responding back. I hired someone to do my website, but, I designed what I wanted and how I wanted it. Then a friend put the music in for me. All I do is put on my art work. I have no computer knowledge. Ask a friend to recommend someone they know to help you. Good luck.

You're welcome and thanks! I have a few ideas of techies that might be able to help me or places I can get some templates or perhaps just use wordpress. Trying to figure out where to get the space. You have a lot of myLot experience. You must enjoy it. Have you met some good people? Made any money?

How about designing your website in Trellix? Is that any good? It comes as part of the WordPerfect package. I've played around with it for a bit and have a fairly workable site, but I'm not quite ready to host it yet. And . . . For those hosting the website, will they accept sites done in Trellix? ---------- Thank you to everyone for your very helpful input.

I don't know anything about Trellix. I've been using WordPress.

I didn't respond sooner to your question because I didn't have any answers or suggestions. I am so glad you asked your question, though, because there has been a lot of very helpful information and suggestions provided here. It will help me to sort out my own needs when I'm ready to host my website. Thanks for a great question, and good luck.

I remember. I doubt I will be employing a designer anytime soon. I plan to just put up wordpress or find another template online. But when I am a tycoon, I'm sure I will redesign. :)

Unfortunately, I really only speak English. I can speak some French, but living in the United States, I don't use it much. I don't know that an Italian company would be the best for me at this time. But thanks for your opinion!
