Recentely, PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) came out against circuses saying that they aur cruel, that elephants are beaten their entire lives, and that the animals are not given the opprotunity to make one choice in their life. Also, they have launched several campaigns against two fasst food industry giants, McDonalds and KFC because of alleged abuse to the chickens that they are supplied. Do you think this is a smart move? Lastly, on the groups main page is an article that encourages people to NOT kill the mice that we may have in our home. The author does their best to paint the mice as cute, funny little creatures that should be welcomed into our homes with open arms? So, is your home about to be the new Mouse House?

Just escort the mice out of your home. Killing them isn't going to keep them out of your home. And it's cruel. PETA is right on target because animals do not deserve to be abused, they didn't ask to be our entertainment, our food, our experiments, and definitely not our clothing. They want to be left alone. That simple.

I don't kill mice we find in our home. My husband catches them in a bucket or something and turns them outside to be free. I think it's extremely cruel to kill a mouse. I've got a baby so I don't want poisons or glue traps or those traps that snap the neck around. My daughter could put her hand in that snap trap and be seriously injured. We do have 2 cats, but our cats don't really care much about mousing at all. My husband caught a mouse a few weeks ago after our dog (!) found it in the corner of our living room and started to play with it. He picked it up and put it outside. As for circus animals, I have heard the same thing not only from PETA but from the HSUSA and the ASPCA. Most of the circus animals are treated fairly and with respect, but they are still going to act out and not do their jobs and that's when the abuse comes in. I personally can't stand going to the circus as I have an irrational fear of clowns (I watched It as a child) and we don't go. But PETA isn't the only animal-rights group that has it out for the circus animals.
