how do you make friends in a new workplace?

i remember when i transferred cities and changed jobs. i had nobody there so i tried the magic formula of talking to anybody and everybody just about anything. i sort or pretended that i'm talking to my siblings. it worked! they got to know the real, frank, direct, funny (?) me.

Well you know just the right way to make friends in a workplace.
Just make sure that when you are talking, you should be careful not to in anyways hurt their feeling, you never know what they are going through or have gone through.
SO you should first ask and make sure about the person
