Societies contradiction on Church and State

The contradiction continues! Society wants us to say ". Happy holidays instead of Merry Christmas". Reason being, " Christmas" is associated with a religious belief. However, the word" Christmas" is accepted by society and the retail industry annually because of it's consistent ability to boost general revenue. Basically, it's an excellent marketing tactic. How convenient! Another interesting fact, according to society we must separate " Church and State". Although, their are numerous aspects with in our society that consistently connects the two! Examples such as: "In God we trust, is on our own currency", ". One nation under God, is in our pledge, also before any court proceedings we must be sworn under oath by placing our hand on a bible. So in retrospect, The separation of Church and State only applies to the society not the people in it. How ironic! Which go's on to prove my point " Societies contradiction in it's regards to Church and State! Any thoughts?

I'm a recovering Catholic and I say Happy Holidays because there's more then one holiday happening unless you're talking about Dec 25th itself. The only holiday I actually celebrate, beside turkey day, (yay food!) is Halloween and here in the bible belt they've done everything but outlaw it. I figure if they have no respect for me and my holiday, why should I have any for theirs?
