My best friend was recently diagnosed with depression. I have known her since I was a young child and now I don't know what to do. How do you deal with someone that has depression?

stay far far away from her...hehe...(realizes no one's laughing). well, for starters be normal. dun mollycoddle her or something. but try not to touch on whatever is depressing her. GO to a bar, hangout, just behave as you normally would.

well i have depression too, what makes me feel good is having a friend to go when i need to talk about things, just being there for her and listening to her is the best things. and make sure she get helps to deal with it. but just being there, just dont tell her its in her head or get over it. not that easy. and give her a hug when she need one.

She is still the same person you always knew, right? Just because she has a diagnosis doesn't mean it has to be a huge deal. Knowing, might help you be a little more sensitive to her issues. Hopefully she will get the help she needs. Just know when to be her friend, but also know that sometimes you might have to take a step back so she doesn't drag you down with her. Not that it's contagious, but sometimes we trie so hard to help those we care about that we end up harming ourselves in the process.

well, i will do comfort her everytime when we got a chance to talk or if we are together sharing moments each other..i will tell her a story about beautiful and wonderful story about life..that life is the most important gift from God to us..and we should always have a spirit of thanksgiving so that problems that may come in into our lives we will not get affected and our depression will be vanished with our hope with God.

Well I think being there for your friend is the best thing you can do for them. Just because someone is depressed does not mean there is something bad about them they just need some time to re- adjust to things. I also would look things up online about how you can help others with depression and see what you can do from your end. I think that you know how you can help and being there is step one. I hope this helps and take care and happy mylotting to you.

avoid making her sad just be around and if you have no better thing to say just keep silent I guess... Understand her mood swings and avoid arguing with her....You are such a nice friend blion you must have cared a lot about her.
