I was wearing a gold ring with a topaz stone but after some days it was itching my finger. The allergy spread all over the hand so , I have to remove it from my finger. so now a days I am not wearing any gold ornaments but wear some silver ornaments. Now i am scared of wearing gold ornaments and getting allergies again.

I don't think gold is quite that popular where I live (the US). I guess it just depends on the person and their personal preference, though. Most (fine jewelry) bracelets and wedding rings I see are silver - it's rare to see gold these days. I think a lot of people think it's "tacky", although I don't know if I share that same sentiment. I don't really wear jewelry - and when I do, it's usually NOT fine jewelry (so it's plastic or beaded "fashion" jewelry).
