What is Good Friday for you?

Today is Good Friday in which Catholics are remembering the death of Jesus Christ. But let's admit it, a lot of Filipinos are now in in the beach enjoying with their families. Although there are some elders who are still practicing their devotion, I think there are getting few these days.
I know that Filipinos are fond of vacations and want to spend more time with their love ones, but I think the Catholic church are starting to lose touch with their members.
I am not a Catholic, but I believe there is a GOD whoever HE is. I respect and admire those who have strong faith no matter what their religion are.
For me, Good Friday is an ordinary day with respect to my faith simply because I believe that it should NOT be only once a year that we remember the sacrifice our Lord. Good Friday for me is everyday to remind me that I should be good to my neighbors and to help anybody in the best way I can.

I'm a Catholic I'm not against for those who want to enjoy their vacation in Holy Week. For me I still respect Good Friday how God sacrifices his life to our sins. For my opinion I hope some Catholic still respect the true essence of Holy Week and avoid having fun during this time.

[i]I am with you in that view. I believed that we can live our life each day commemorating how our God saved us by being a good person to everyone we know and we don't know..
I observe fasting also during this week but I am more on my attitude, I am not perfect and each day, I am trying to minimize thinking bad to myself and others, saying painful words to others and so on and hoping that throughout the year and my life, I will be able to have that self-control![/i]

That is very good. We should not just remember on one day what someone gave His life for. It takes our whole lifetime. Have a holiday filled with grace my friend.

Good Friday is the day that we Catholics remember the day when Christ was crucified. This is the day were we focused more on the passion of Christ how he offered His life for us to be forgiven. I am glad you have a deep respect for those that practice differently from your belief. I am sometimes become offended by those that seems volatile when professing their faith. I wish everyone can just allow each to practice their own faith and stop back lashing at each other's faith.

I do know there's a good friday in this month but i dunno it's today.. lol =D TO me, good friday is just like any other day because i dun belong to any religion and also, it means a long weekend for me.. lol =D
It's just like a holiday with no strings attached.. As i dun have any catholic frenz, thus i wont know what good friday means to them at all too.. lol =D

Hi there. Well, I guess my family is more of the traditional sort in that we prefer to spend Good Friday, and Holy Week for that matter, at home reflecting and spending time with each other. I guess I prefer it this way rather than going on a vacation wherein there would be too many distractions to be able to reflect properly. Though I agree that everyday should be a Good Friday, I actually take the opportunity during Holy Week to reflect on my life, where I am and where I want to be, what's really important - stuff like that.

when i begin to work at the working places,i have not a time concept on what day i am. because i have a lot of thing to do it.as for you, friday is the god for day,but to our orient place----chinese,it do not has such a deep idea. the people only spent the spare time on friday day with their family. and the most advantage is that he can do the own favour thing for him.
