Londoners, Love your City!

The last two years, I had the opportunity to live and work in London. I had the best time of my life and everything was pretty much good at all times. What I didn't understand though was the way the Londoners (who have been born and raised there) critised and constantly complained about their city. If it is not immigration, then it's the NHS or unemployment rates and they protest and demand that foreing workers should not be given jobs. One way or the other they always had something to complain about. Although I did not experience much racial tensions as I did when I lived in Australia,I found this very disturbing. I used to say to my friends that you londoers are the luckiest people in the world. You have unemployment benefits, you dont pay for any medical treatment and when you have a job you are given all benefits from sick pay to paid annual leave and holiday entitlement. Now we foreigners do not have that luxury. Although I had a job in London, the only benefit I had was my hourly wage. I didnot get any benefits or free medical treatment or government pensions and yet my life there was much of a luxury than the basic Londoner. My office peers never understood why I was always happy and yet I didn't get as much as them. My answer was I'm very greatful that God allowed me to experience life in this glorious city. I didnt earn much and yet I managed to travel round england, pay my monthly rent/bills in a beautiful studio apartment in Bayswater and enjoy the life that London has to offer. So my advice to you people born and bred in London is this... LOVE YOUR CITY!! it doesnt matter even though the recession has hit you guys. You're still in a much better position than most countries in the world. So spread the Love and be greatful that the Almighty God has chosen such a beautiful city to be your home.

I totally agree. As another non-UK native that LOVES London, I'm excited to move back (I've lived there once before and have plans to return soon) and enjoy everything that the city has to offer. In my opinion, it's the greatest city in the world, and people shouldn't take it for granted!
