Just Wondering Especially For The Older Members Here. Do You Remember.....??

That very first discussion you posted? A lot of us here, who've been around a fairly long time have come across new user discussions and many of them are the real fluffy kind, like "Do you prefer Coke or Pepsi?" "What's your favorite ice cream flavor?" So we old timers tend to roll our eyes. Okay, I have to admit, when first joining here MyLot can be pretty intimidating until one learns the ropes..sheesh, some never do and do things that are considered guideline violations, like putting referral links, or "advertising" another site. But think all the way back to your first time here...did you jump right in and start a discussion or did you look and see what others were posting and for awhile only replied to discussions until you got the feeling of this place? If you did start your very first discussion...was it fluffy? Deep? Dumb? Philosophical? Thought-provoking? I remember my very first discussion. I was asking if anyone knew more natural means of healing joint problems and pain, as I'm not a great advocate of prescription medications and rarely take them. So guess my very first discussion wasn't too fluffy after all...LOL And overall, if you viewed your discussion "behavior" are you always serious or do you do silly ones as well? I tend to lean back and forth, to the very serious, such as news items I hear, to really thought provoking discussions such as my now famous "The Deadliest One Of All: The Bubble Fart" (a masterpiece)

I really dont remember what the first discussion I started was but I would think that it would not be a dumb one.I think before posting my first discussion I had seen the pros & cons of this site so maybe I used to just respond to discussions started by others. I admit that in the beginning I used to respond with 1-2 liners. After that I learnt the art of how to survive here at MYLOT with the help of some seniors here.I would like to thank MISS DIANA from ITALY for this. She is my mentor here.I dont think without her I would not have survived the first phase here at MYLOT.

Hey Mr. Krupesh! You keep making me blush I help many new users but ONLY if they help themselves like YOU did will they gain anything from the advice I give. You only needed a push and I still remember that we had fun - though I often think I was maybe annoying you at the time I knew you would make it and you have proved me correct. It is fun to see you having fun and that my efforts were worth it my friend!

I remember when I joined I read many discussions before posting one of my own, and I gotta say I really don't think I've ever posted a dumb discussion. I did surprise myself when I just went back through all mine , wow 68 pages, did not seem like I wrote them, I've been here 2 years or better.

Yikes I think I have over 100 pages of discussions I've started. I was taking a trip down memory lane and looking up my discussions and some had me falling off the chair as I forgot my silly ones. Then it was also like reading a diary/journal of some of my ranty discussions when I was going through difficult times

I hear ya, it brought back a lot of memories for me, it reminded me of all the things that have happened from then to now. Thinking back I don't know where all the time has gone.

Hi Melanie, I'm actually answering this from my in box, as I'm not 'here' very often anymore. Yes, I do remember my first discussion, and it didn't take me that many days to decide to post one. My topic was a question regarding menopause, and I didn't receive that many responses. Overall, my topics have varied, although I've left 'the really silly ones' for those with a knack for them. I can hardly 'bear' that some of these beloved members are no longer on here. :( I'm sure you'll know who I'm speaking of. Big hugs

My first discussion was one of those 'I'm new here, how does this work?' type discussions. That seems to be a popular started discussion. My first friend was my Mommy. Then I would think long and hard for the best ideas for discussions. I may have started one a week, cuz I didn't wanna post crap. I wanted to post quality stuff. Most of my first ones had only my Mommy responding to them. Funny, huh?

You HAVE to add the kazoo fart to that list! I had one of those get loose one day as we were getting into the car and Bill (my BF) uttered "Crap!!! We've got a flat!" I tried to tell him that the tire wasn't going flat but I was laughing so hard (all I could do at that point is "toot") that I couldn't say a word. I finally got control of myself and tried again but couldn't say a word because I started laughing so hard. It took about three hours for me to get enough control to tell him that it wasn't a tire going flat but a "kazoo" fart. I can't remember my first discussion...I had so much fun replying to other people's discussions that it was quite awhile for me to get the nerve to post my own discussion. Now I have fun doing both responding and posting discussions.

I am a member 3 months ago and didn't make my own discussions yet, I do lots of reading and making it sure that I know all the rules here at mylot. It took me 2 months before I go active here at mylot and still dont make my first discussion but commented on my friends discussions... After sometime I made my first discussion without expecting replies just getting used to the things here at mylot. and by the way I also make a discussion regarding my big fart .lol

It's so tempting to copy & paste my response over here. http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/1930439.aspx?p=2 I had a total of three discussions deleted. Like when I replied to that discussion about discussions #3 & #4, I did not mention it there, but I'll mention here that it still gets me that those discussions got deleted at the time someone was copying & pasting from a website. When those discussions got deleted, I gave up with the constant reporting & sending a message via the contact us to the admins. I just went to the site the copier & paster was stealing from, found a contact address, & reported it there.

Wow, that was your first discussion? I remember that discussion!!! Seriously, I do because we talked a bit about glucosemine (sp) and you said you were paying like $50/month for it. We tried to hook up a few times because we only pay $10 a month for my husbands and he can't live without the stuff! If I remember correctly, you were very busy with a craft project... Was it around the holidays??? Of course I have no clue what my first discussion was about... It took me a quite a while to jump in and start my own discussions. I did a lot of replying at first. I know I did goofy discussions as well as serious ones, but I don't know that I ever did the whole "What's your favorite color" route. And I have my share of 'please don't let anyone stumble upon this old discussion and revive it' discussions!

I have no memory of what my first discussion was, but I do seem to remember looking around for things to respond to before starting my own discussion. I can't remember every doing anything as fluffy as "what's you favorite soda or color" type discussions.

not really so old i guess. i've been just around for i think over a year now. and i can still remember my first post, and i think it was about "How to get paid from mylot.com?" well i think most of the new members might probably asks the same question. it was what's everyone's after at the beginning. i've read about you already and according to mylotters you're a very good discussion starter. i wish to become like you someday. i have actually hundreds of topics in my mind that i wanted to write here on mylot but i have doubts that i'll be catching anyone's attention. anyway, congratulations. good luck to you and to us! and happy mylotting! don't stop starting good discussions. members like you keeps mylot.com standing still! cheers!

Hey pye! No one could ever describe you as not giving us a plenty of different kinds of discussions to choose from! You definitely are one of the best discussion starters on mylot! I would say you are one of the "Queens of Discussion Starters" and don't forget trying to get the crown away from the "Queen of Idiots"! I wonder who is on top of that category? Haven't seen anything from there lately! You sure can do some very thought provoking discussions and it is truly appreciated! I, for one am not into fluff unless it's on my kitties! And that's another one! You are one of the biggest defenders of animal rights too! You really are a great asset here and we are truly blessed to have you dear Pyewacket!!!

It wasn't all that long ago I guess and I do remember the very first discussion I initiated. It was in the computers section: What do you guys think of Windows Vista in comparison to XP? So it was a technological question! I felt a little intimidated when I first joined MyLot especially when I came across discussions going back and forth between people who were clearly long time friends with thousands of discussions under their belt who bantered with one another, shared jokes etc... Nowadays I generally like to start light hearted discussions although I am drawn to responding to a lot of the more serious and thought provoking ones. Oh...I just remembered that I had a couple of my discussions deleted because I had not taken the time to read the guidelines. I remember feeling mortified and I almost didn't come back! Another MyLotter kindly explained to me where I went wrong and I have not offended since.

I remember my very first discussion. I think I got two responses, and one was from the person to whom I had signed under. I was getting ready to buy a different used vehicle than the one I had, and was asking advice about certain types of cars. I guess the seriousness or silliness of my discussions are equal, maybe some are just indifferent topics. Of course I've never been the kind of genius to think of bubble farting.

Gee, pyewacket, it seems like so long ago when I started myLot that it's hard to remember. I do know that I felt pretty intimidated because almost everyone was very knowledgeable about their discussions. I didn't just jump right in with a discussion of my own because I wanted to respond to a number of them first in order to build my confidence. I came to myLot via a referral from a popular Q&A forum. I only know that at the time I thought, "Yeah, right, a discussion site that will pay you to participate!"I soon discovered, however, that myLot delivered what it promised. It took me all of 3 months to make my very first payout, and I felt such a sense of accomplishment. My discussions have ranged from the ridiculous to the sublime over the years. I sometimes shudder to think of some of the discussions I started.

Yes I remember the first discussion I started. It actually made it onto the hot topic page before I even knew what the hot topic page was LOL. It got the most responses of any discussion I've done since and it was about my daughter and something we were going through so it was a pretty overwhelming start. I have made my share of dumb discussions that I regret posting since then though so I tend to answer others discussions and leave the starting of new ones to others LOL. And if you can't tell (I've been here over a year and I'm still in the 300s for my postings)I spend a lot more time reading rather than writing while i'm here (which would explain why I've yet to make payout LOL)

well only been here about a year. even so cant remember my very first. it was either asking about if there was a way to get rid of snakes in your suroundings(i was in snake ridden florida then) or something about getting my elbows from being dry and sore. mostly i think i've kind of used mylot as an advice source sometimes i like to ask questions that will just help me know my friends better. well, theres also the many rants about Agra of which i've been afraid to mention much again as i dont want to completely bore my friends here.

I doubt that I'm considered an old member in myLot terms!!! Yet, I feel as if I've been here forever!!!! I lurked around watching the has beens (just kidding) do their thing. I think it took me almost a week to get up the nerve to respond to a discussion. Fortunately an old myLot member took me under his wing & taught me the ropes. I kept finding discussions blasting the newbies for having NO clue as to what they were doing. I was shocked at the number of members that said I just don't answer a newbie's question on how to do (whatever)...it's been asked a thousand times. As a newbie, I hadn't heard it answered a thousand times & had NO clue how to find the answer. Once I found the answer it was like DUH!!! I only knew the way to earn & learn was to jump in head first & hope I didn't drown. My first discussion was I Love myLot & I don't Want to Leave!!!. Within the first month I was here, a bunch of the older members jumped the sinking ship. I couldn't understand why anybody would even think of leaving!!! Plus I wanted the ones doing the newbie bashing to understand that I was here to stay. I will say from some of the things I heard said my first couple of months here that I still try & look to newbie discussions to see if any of them need help. I do my best to NOT chastise them until they have been here for a minimum of 3 months. It seems to take that long to learn the ropes. Hell. I've been here almost a year & I'm still learning new chit!!!
