Yes, I know I really shouldn't but it did look exceptionally nice there on the canteen counter... and it was Easter Sunday... "Do you want custard on it?" she asked. "No, " I said. "I'll have that...... "..... "GRAVY??????" - well, it looked like chocolate sauce to me! I really wish I'd just said,"Yes..." - as tho it were the most obvious accompaniment but my lust for the chocolate overcame my pandaspankiness. I am ashamed and now I want to know if anyone's tried that particular combination and could you still taste the chocolate ?

At least the lady behind the counter TOLD you it was gravy, as it couldn't have been intersting if she didn't! I'm pretty adventurous when it comes to food, but gravy and chocolate is NOT something I've ever tried. You've got me all intrigued now though, I must say! We had gravy with our steak last night too dagnabbit! Oh well. I missed that chance, but there'll be another. I'll keep you posted..... (Seriously, I'm gonna give it a try next time we have gravy and I'll dip some chocolate in it and see what's what!)

Ahh, James... where would I be without you?? .....talking to myself I guess... I'm thinking of changing my name to "Billy-no-mates" I remember my son asking for chips and custard after seeing someone eat it in a kids cartoon... so that's what I gave him - and he ate it, saying it was lovely. I s'pose it all goes the same way in the end....

It does all end up together in the tunny, so why the heck not! Nothing ventured, nothing gained I reckon. And hang in there with the discussion posting etc, as I'm sure it's because it's been a bit of a slow time here lately rather than being due to any other reason. You've got a wickedly wonderful sense of humour and more people just need to see it is all.

My mom used to make chocolate gravy for us kids as a treat, As we have gotten older and all but one living away from home it it a rare occurrence now. We usually have it with homemade biscuits and it is really good when it is made right.

Dagnabbit, someone's beaten me to it! I was all geared up to try and make it too. Oh well, I can still boldly go where I've never gone before and see for myself what this is all about..... Thanks for the BR too Wizzy!

Here is a recipe I looked up online that is similar to my moms and grandmothers who was probably feeding me this since I was a month old.. Chocolate Gravy..Sure to get you bouncing... INGREDIENTS * 5 Tablespoons butter * 4 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder * 1/4 cup all-purpose flour * 1/2 cup white sugar * 2 cups milk * 1 1/2 Teaspoon of Vanilla DIRECTIONS 1. Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat.(if you let the butter cool for a bit after melting it will decrease the chance for lumps.) Also, Add cocoa and flour together and either sift or whisk together. Before adding it to butter; stir until a thick paste is formed. Stir the sugar and vanilla into the milk stir till sugar is dissolved, before adding it to the butter/cocoa/flour mixture. . Cook, stirring constantly, over medium heat or medium low if you prefer depending on your stove. cook until it reaches the thickness you like..

I suppose the sweetness dulls the spice a bit?
